15/4/2019 16:01 | Bought in today. Stupidly the rise prompted me to look at them a little more closely. Duh. Seems like the new Board are doing a little kitchen sinking - who can blame them. CEO has a strong brand background so should be able to leverage iconic brands such as Morris and Zoffany. Anybody know what she achieved in the past? Solid enough financials and luxury brands. Great opportunity for the new CEO I’d have thought. | zoolook

14/4/2019 13:51 | Fair enough. Luck if you're holding. I've got it on a watchlist. CFX retiring another 8% of their equity, announced recently. | essentialinvestor
14/4/2019 13:47 | EI. - an answer I would not like to provide, as it depends on how much further the slowdown in the U.K. has to run. And to what extent and how quickly the new broom is at executing her own strategy, I hope that the company understands the new norm, and is already pushing ahead with a new business model. I’d like to believe their brands still have some clout, but I’m probably more concerned about their in-house manufacturing processes, and whether they remain cost effective to operate, more third party work necessary to justify their existence! | bookbroker
14/4/2019 11:46 | bookbroker, if profitability can erode this quickly outside of a recession, how do you see WGB trading during the next downturn?. As we are 10 years in to the current expansionary cycle it might be a question worth asking. WGB did not have to navigate a secular issue in 08/09, it was a cyclical event. Next time it's a combination of the two- secular plus cyclical. They reference their rapidly changing markets, so the risk is clearly highlighted. | essentialinvestor
12/4/2019 17:36 | Glad to see manufacturing did so well, albeit for other people. Perhaps they should concentrate on that.h | gfrae
12/4/2019 12:34 | I would be staggered if this dropped to anywhere near the previous recession levels, if that is the case then the entire housing market is likely to collapse, they appear well equipped to be able to adjust to producing products on a more direct to consumer level if the investment in new digital printing processes is correct, the pension contributions are something to factor in, along with the situation with their main distributor in the US. As they say, they are monitoring the situation, otherwise should look asap for an alternative company to represent them. | bookbroker
12/4/2019 12:26 | Just one futher observation. WGB have recently invested in additional manufacturing capacity. Now that usually benefits if sales are growing as it should lower the unit cost of production. However this also increases operational gearing in the business and has the opposite effect on costs in a falling sales environment. Would think there is some intrinsic flexibility in the additional capacity, however it's possibly a potential factor to keep in mind | essentialinvestor |
