21/12/2004 23:09 | Excellent day today, good news with the MD buying, but stock must be scare - good volumes overall but very little buying volumes pushing up the price to that extent. However, we've been here before, so it needs to hold this time. Closed at a new high though - which is good. | cobweb
21/12/2004 13:51 | MD buying, he should know! It doesn't look like its his Xmas bonus either. Not sure about being a take over target, but I am also not sure that they will keep HS. Definite growth in the specialist areas. Good Luck GS | green sand
20/12/2004 09:59 | Not seen any accumulation that might indicate it. Hadn't really occurred to me either, web, I acquired these on a value basis (this determines among other things and weighting I give a stock in my portfolio), but always a possibility I guess... Not the reason I'd buy VP though. | edmundshaw
19/12/2004 23:05 | Reasonable write up in Share magazine this week, mentioned VP as a possible takeover target. Hadn't considered this before - any thoughts ? | cobweb
15/12/2004 21:32 | Very odd Bid / Offer on this, only 2 sells at 158 ... yet the bid is 156 ? | cobweb
13/12/2004 19:41 | Very frustrating this share, some movement up ...followed by a slow retreat - any views or predictions ? Not sure what or when this will progress beyond 160 range ? | cobweb
03/12/2004 13:54 | And you're not the only one. :-) | diogenesj
03/12/2004 13:26 | Dont I know it ES. Have some PA from the end of 2000 but it is too illiquid for the institutions. Strange really some small companies can be quite liquid whilst other larger companies are hard to trade. I'll never understand this investment malarky. | swalker
03/12/2004 10:14 | Thanks SW. VP has already rewarded me handsomely as I started buying at 108 July last year and stopped at 136... average profit 34% + dividends. I guess NMD would be a little too small for you?!! My most illiquid share but a brilliant runner, still very undervalued... | edmundshaw
02/12/2004 16:33 | Cheers GS. Its been a good week or so for us TRK, PDX, SIA and a new position in LIO that I think is a superb GARP. Anyway, back to VP. I think it is odds on that they will divest at some point. They dont have critical mass and its a bloody tough market with horrid competition and margin pressures. Best Darron | swalker
02/12/2004 15:54 | SWalker, results OK, excellent cash generation, sadly another maňana statement regarding HS. What do you think of the chances are that they will divest once they have enough momentum in specialist growth areas? Before anybody gets the wrong idea I am still in and intend to stay there is value here. PS Good TRK call Regards GS | green sand
02/12/2004 15:13 | Robbie Burns, Frequent Trader gives VP a good write up on his website today. £2.25 price target! | susier
02/12/2004 12:13 | Nice results ES. Hope they reward you. The volume today is daft. 18k on news like this. Just shows how hard it is to deal in size on VP. Darron | swalker
02/12/2004 07:55 | EPS diluted nefore amortisation 7.75p = 5.5p annualised. And with a loss of .65p per share in hirestation which is now profitable and recovering... Looking good for end of year having a PE under 10 and improving... oil price still high but this benefits the oil services division so effectively hedged... | edmundshaw
01/12/2004 14:05 | Interim Results - Thursday 2 December 2004 - tomorrow! 8-G | edmundshaw
24/11/2004 09:45 | ES Oh yes that damned costly diversion. E4 or something like that? I havent got a clue but my guess is that it now resides in a private company having been bought out by the management. Dont mention Mayflower. Bunch of bleeding crooks. Darron | swalker
23/11/2004 17:48 | SW I took a look at TRK last year shortly before I was exiting Mayflower (just in time!). TRK down about 15% from then, so glad I gave it a miss; but I liked the idea. I'll take that as a well-mannered and moderate ramp, i.e. on a DYOR basis. Thanks for the pointer, can only be good for all... BTW do you know what became of Mayflowers hinged piston technology? ES. | edmundshaw
23/11/2004 17:24 | Cheers GS - Im not one for all the BS of BBs. I always try to be as open and honest as possible without compromising the clients - hence no mention of my sales here till it was complete. TRK has, I feel, got the deal in the bank and so it now warrants a bigger position for some of our clients. Will catch you around GS. Darron | swalker
23/11/2004 16:34 | Yep - they are well run and I agree that there could be something to be had; however, HS does bother me and the killer is the lack of liquidity. It is a solid stock for an individual but just not right for us now. I may be back but till then good luck all. Darron | swalker
23/11/2004 16:22 | Thanks, Slater. :-) This one is certainly illiquid - I never understand how institutional investors manage with these small companies. 3k or 4k shares are often enough to move the price. Seems to me there's a bit of value left (in fact I was hoping to buy back in if it had fallen further). It's a well-run company, but as Green Sand pointed out above, a lot depends on how successfully they have tackled the Hire Station problems. | diogenesj
23/11/2004 16:08 | Slater Walker - I like that one. We, are a private client investment house. We tend to specialise in smaller/medium company positions and this one was a sod. Total position wasnt that big c170k nominal. The reason for the sale. Well we had made a nice return on the stock but I was a touch concerned that there wasnt much in the way of extra value to be outed. We made the decision to start exiting at 166p. We just saw better value elsewhere in the market. For bona fides, I usually post on TMF but if you look at ADVFNs PDT you will see y posts. We are holding just under 5% there. Also TRK where we added 650k to our position yesterday. | swalker
23/11/2004 14:10 | Snap, GS. O/T - left a message for you on the other board. | diogenesj
23/11/2004 13:36 | Thanks for the info SWalker, been watching the trades over the last week or so. Would appreciate a little more clarification if possible, i.e. why are you exiting. Regards GS | green sand
23/11/2004 13:34 | Gd afternoon, Slater Walker. Thought you went under in 1972! The questions that spring to mind are: who's 'we', how large was the position, and what were your reasons for selling? :-) | diogenesj |
