I think the mms are monkeying around with the offer price. Don't think the bid price has moved.

greensand - point taken, but I thought I was on the right thread.
Chart above here shows a nice rise from around 285 to around 290 this morning.
I just now compared that chart to LSE site chart which shows completely diff story, a fall from around 285 to around 280 at present. Apologies.

Rising nicely.
Needs to breach and hold 293p to remain interesting, then 300p.

We seem to be geting there slowly, even though the share price seems to do a fair bit of lurching about.

There is definitely a rough but rising support line showing on the charts.

Stay positive chaps, and keep plugging!

Hi Robbie,
Very pleased you are looking in.

We have previously exchanged emails once or twice - I guess no-one needs reminding of your address.

Assuming you read all previous posts, you will already appreciate that some of your fans on this thread believe you can move markets - how about that for fame!

So please buy lots more VP and announce it on your site so we can get some fire under this!

If you are a bit strapped at the moment, give us a shout and maybe we'll organise a whip-round.

best wishes,
PIM

Yes, took some profit in the Spring, when I thought the price was high enough and I was worried about the market. I don't know why it went so high, but the shares are very illiquid (from memory, 51% held by the family and another 6% or so by the employee trust). Quite small-scale buying or selling can push them sharply up or down. I've bought a few back now mainly because I like the look of the chart, and because I do think they are reasonable value.

>DiogenesJ - Many tks for response - can't believe how quiet this thread is.

Were you into VP just before the mkt fall in May? The share price had risen a long way to 370p - I was busy moving house at the time and missed most of that action. I would be interested in your comments on what caused the big rise?

I am fairly happy to hang on to my VP for a while, at least for the medium term, but if we saw a similarly hefty rise I would definitely consider taking profits (my AvCost 240p) with the hope that I could buy in again if it settled back again later.

Of course a takeover announcement could change everything.

As an amateur chartist, I have to say that the chart looks pretty good. It has formed a good base and appears to be rising. As an amateur fundamentalist, I'd say the shares are good value, but not stonkingly so (unless someone wants to take them over).

Pardon me if I admit to being a bit biased here - VP is a stonking good buy!
We dont need tipsters to tell us this if we each do our homework.
Are there any experienced chartists looking in - I would be interested to here what they have to say.

Moved up quite sharply on news of the R Burns buy, P: although it drifted back a bit later. Perhaps his power is waning.

............normally a very illiquid share, but I'm amazed to see how Robbie B. can still move the market.

Am I misunderstanding, or are you suggesting that Robbie Burns caused all this rise?

Surely it was more to do with someone buying over one million shares at a cost of £3M plus on the 6th, Vp putting out a positive statement from their AGM on the 7th, and RB (with genuine respect for his trading skills) simply riding on the back of it all.

Still, as a largish holder, I'm happy with the result so far.

Might not be DJ, according to Aug REFS Britel were holding 3.47% which means if they now have 2.37% it makes them the vendors? If so who bought?

RNS out today: looks as though the big buyer was no one more exciting than the British Telecom pension fund.
