03/1/2018 15:21 | Just tried to buy some more Halifax share dealing says no longer allowing purchases of Volvere Hargreaves Lansdown will allow purchases, but virtually no stock available to buy both are ISA accounts for me | spob
03/1/2018 15:18 | There she goes rota :-) | melf
03/1/2018 14:02 | Looks like only 650 shrs left at 874.x before tick up comes | return_of_the_apeman
03/1/2018 13:40 | It's not always practicable to move an account. I know these brokers are being a pain but if we somehow can get them to behave better that will be a lot simpler. I've had recurrent problems with HL mostly around their slow reaction to corporate actions - eg they refused to allow trading for over a week in ERET after it undertook a compulsory partial share redemption, where iWeb had it back online at 8.22 am on the first day of trading under the new ISIN. It's also in the interest of all of us that these shares are tradeable by as many people as possible. | zangdook
03/1/2018 11:01 | Cheers rhomboid, glawsiain re the Stockopedia tip. Good to see word of this little gem spreading further. | rivaldo
03/1/2018 10:40 | finkwot, longshanks - move your account. I'd say that anyway as the costs and services provided by the high street banks are worse than specialists. Whether a company is a PRIIP or not is not decided by the FCA; they publish the rules, which are themselves European legislation, and it is up to intermediaries (who can veto trading) and investment companies themselves to decide a) whether they are covered, or b) whether they choose to produce a KID or not. VLE is clearly a conventional PLC. IG and HL will deal for you, so dump your loser broker (disclosure I am long IGG, as well as an account holder). | hpcg
02/1/2018 19:15 | Thanks finkwot. I have already sent an email to the company explaining my situation. | longshanks
02/1/2018 16:20 | I've talked to Lloyds. They say - VLE is a PRIIP - This is decided by the FCA - There's nothing Lloyds (and presumably Halifax and iWeb which are the same organisation) can do about it. So it seems to me the next step is to talk to VLE. Assuming the above is correct, they'll either have to prepare a KID or persuade the FCA to back down on the PRIIP classification. | finkwot
02/1/2018 16:03 | Thanks Rhomboid. The link is Here's what was said: Volvere Balanced Micro Cap Style Neutral - Holding Companies Market Cap: £30.3 million, StockRank: 83 Volvere is an investment company that buys majority stakes in undervalued and/or distressed businesses and endeavours to fix them. Currently, its holdings span security solutions, food manufacturing and automotive consultancy. Shares in the group rose in by more than 65 percent in 2017 and the latest interim figures show that its portfolio companies are trading in line with expectations or, in the case of the consultancy firm Impetus Automotive, trading very strongly. This is a favourite of Graham Neary, who covered the stock in September 2017. Company statement: “I'm delighted to report a solid set of results for the first half of 2017. We look forward to continuing progress in the remainder of 2017… Volvere and its team are strong and we are well placed to capitalise on further opportunities as they arise.” | glawsiain
02/1/2018 15:50 | It’s been named as one of the constituents of the Stockopedia NAPS portfolio for 2018, last years portfolio returned 40% so hopefully.. | rhomboid
02/1/2018 15:44 | Happy New Year to everyone here. Encouraging by VLE's standards to see £50,000 of trades already today and no share price movement. One could almost describe it as "liquidity" for possibly the first time in VLE's history :o)) | rivaldo
02/1/2018 14:58 | iweb and Lloyds still say no. They're both part of the same group. If I find time later I'll query it with one of them | zangdook
02/1/2018 13:57 | longshanks - it's resolved itself for me now, I'm able to both buy and sell. | texas_caddy
02/1/2018 12:17 | Thanks for that hpcg. It seems to be the case here, so it looks like I might have to change broker: all I got from the iWeb support team was "computer says no"... | longshanks
29/12/2017 17:56 | That must be something to do with their interpretation of the KID regulation. The new regulation requires that issuers of certain types of investments (known as ‘Packaged Retail Investment and Insurance Products’ or ‘PRIIPs’ Whilst I have had notification about not being able to buy more of some instruments I hold, primarily US listed ETFs, I haven't had any notification from the same broker about VLE. I would suggest it is not covered as it is a conglomerate not a collective investment. PRIIP definition A PRIIP is defined as: an investment where, regardless of its legal form, the amount repayable to the retail investor is subject to fluctuations because of exposure to reference values or to the performance of one or more assets that are not directly purchased by the retail investor; or an insurance-based investment product which offers a maturity or surrender value that is wholly or partially exposed, directly or indirectly, to market fluctuations. Identifying whether a particular product is a PRIIP may not be straightforward as the concept of ‘exposure to reference values’ is wide. In some cases, you will need to consider the specific terms of a product before determining whether or not it is a PRIIP. From the FCA I would suggest you follow up with your broker with that FCA guidance. The subsidiaries of VLE are individually patently not subject to fluctuations of the market. | hpcg
29/12/2017 14:18 | No it was still the same and markets closed now. Will check Tuesday and see if it's the same and query if so. Cheers | texas_caddy
29/12/2017 13:46 | That is what I am seeing. I would be able to sell should I want to...I just can't buy.Did you get it resolved? | longshanks
29/12/2017 12:31 | Longshanks - I had the same with share.com though it appeared to only restrict me buying shares. | texas_caddy
29/12/2017 12:16 | Oddly, my broker (iWeb) has said they no longer allow trades in VLE....I will contact them in the NY if it is sustained - has anyone had similar issues? | longshanks
28/12/2017 10:51 | Happy New Year to you Riv and to all holders - thanks for all your informative posts during the year. Looking forward to 2018 and quite happy for VLE to make up a third of my portfolio. | melf
28/12/2017 10:49 | It usually appears in tips I think? It always looks cheap once one looks at EV, and delivers the goods every year. I would expect it to make an appearance on Simon Thompson's list once again. | hpcg
28/12/2017 10:44 | Little flurry there - wonder if we'll see a 2018 tip.......... | soundbuy
28/12/2017 10:26 | Moving up, and a lovely small 10p spread (EDIT - up again, and the spread is at 20p now, which is still good by VLE's standards). Hope everyone had a great Xmas, and a happy New Year to everyone. I have a strong suspicion that 2018 will be yet another good year for VLE holders! | rivaldo
13/12/2017 13:30 | Indeed Riv, and the list of vacancies highlights once again, the blue chip client base that this company has. I have high hopes for IAL. | melf
13/12/2017 11:31 | Good to see a tick up. Nice spot Melf. Looks like the "single large contract to operate a vehicle manufacturer's training centre" is definitely with VW. | rivaldo |
