28/7/2021 15:00 | who is darren morris and turned up where? and so what | ali47fish
28/7/2021 14:59 | I’m hoping Volex be aches differently on results this year, but it’s share prices is up a lot in last year so I’m looking at it more as a likely buying opportunity. | ymaheru
28/7/2021 14:57 | Thamestrader, heat pumps concentrate energy up, so use 3 to 4 times less electricity than just electric boilers. That makes running costs nearly the same as gas boilers. UK homes use roughly 80% gas and 20% electricity (in kWh), so any switch to all electric would required 5x electricity for domestic use alone. No way any grid would be designed to handle that. | ymaheru
28/7/2021 14:47 | I thought so too, will leave it a day or so to see where the price goes and may take a small starter position | stevesham
28/7/2021 14:40 | Interesting... I thought he was the talent on VLX, but then he upped and left. We still don't know why. Whatever - just looked up a bit about BIG. Electronic tagging (criminal justice system - public sector contracts etc but also vulnerable people, again public sector contracts), been going since 2005 - but made big money and with big growth in 2019 and 2020 as a limited company. HQ near somewhere I know well - not very relevant but piqued my interest. No BB thread on it - haven't looked up the IPO stuff, but as it is cash rich and very profitable, might well look further. Mind you, up 50%+ on day 1. Morris is the CFO. | imastu pidgitaswell
28/7/2021 14:21 | Daren Morris turned up IPO today (BIG) Thoughts on a postcard! | stevesham
28/7/2021 14:16 | The only concern for me here is the price of copper although I think the price fluctuations are allowed for in any existing contracts. Correct me if I'm wrong | sooty snipes

28/7/2021 10:31 | VLX presentation @ 2pm tomorrow... | igoe104
28/7/2021 09:57 | I think the government HAVE woken up to the frailties of the grid supply, isn't that why they are pushing these hopeless heat pump boilers rather than electric (using cleanly generated power). Or is there another, more sinister, reason for this? | thamestrader
28/7/2021 08:35 | Results are thing I dread with VLX, great updates but the share price always falls. I expect same again tomorrow..🤷 | igoe104
28/7/2021 08:23 | There’s an article on page 2 of today’s Telegraph which says that MPs have FINALLY woken up to the realisation that the UK’s power network is inadequate ( woefully so in my humble opinion ) for the anticipated major increase in electric vehicles . Nonetheless it seems that “ last year , Graeme Cooper , the National Grid’s transport decarbonisation director said ‘ There is definitely enough energy and the grid can cope easily ‘ “ . Well , we’ll see about that because we already come perilously and increasingly close to power cuts in the winter . Anyway , what seems interesting to us as investors in Volex is the following in the Telegraph article : “ [ National Grid ] also argued that the development of smart charging - internet-connected car plugs that wait for off-peak times to charge the vehicle - would also p , it seems that the “ internet-connected car plugs that wait for off-peak times to charge the vehicle “ are also to play a role . This will add to the cost of installing vehicle-charging sockets because there will also have to be a telephone/internet connection but this will also mean added complexity in the manufacture of the plug tops and possibly also the power flexes to the vehicle . Maybe this added complexity will be a bonus to Volex because the Company can exploit its existing expertise and it will discourage other potential competitor companies . | mrnumpty

19/7/2021 16:22 | couldn't resist at 332. | thamestrader
19/7/2021 12:48 | Agree guys. Still on sidelines | gswredland
19/7/2021 12:30 | I added today at 334 | ijamlon
19/7/2021 11:54 | I agree with Ijamlon. Friday's and today's falls are most likely down to the shares issued to sellers of Servatron and GTK cashing in some/all of their additional windfall. Once they have finished Volex should start rebounding, especially with any announcement of a new addition, allegedly due anytime now. | daveme
17/7/2021 11:44 | Yesterday I posted here that I suspect that the appalling flooding in Europe , especially in Germany , will increase the voter support for the Green Party in Germany’s General Election ( this September ? ) , and that the Greens will also push for more radical energy efficiency . This would obviously be good for Volex in the long run ( don’t forget that the VW Group doesn’t just make cars in Germany but also has Seat ( Spain ) and Skoda ( Czech Republic ) . However I wonder if a reason for Volex’s share price weakness in the last few days might be precisely because the devastating floods have hit Germany so badly , with fears that , although I don’t think that the main car producing area in Germany’s Ruhr region , including Volkssagen’s Wolfsburg , have been hit , there might be concerns about the supply chain feeding in from outlying suppliers . | mrnumpty |
