One wonders if the timing and media promotion of BIG's launch on AIM has anything to do with the proximity to VLX AGM. Maybe indicates subtle dig from Morris. Either way looks like Morris will have made a few bob from the launch.

It could refer to the potential 3 acquisitions they mentioned ages ago.

"provides us with the financial flexibility to advance further opportunities from our acquisition pipeline." Advance in that context presumably means go ahead sooner.

This was the worry, they've done well to negate it. "We successfully passed through the copper price inflation experienced earlier in the year and our global supply chain and customer service teams remain focused on ensuring that we continue to meet our customers' expectations"

29 July 2021 Volex Plc ("Volex" or the "Company") Volex AGM Statement Volex plc (AIM:VLX), the global manufacturer supplying power products and integrated manufacturing services, is today holding its Annual General Meeting. At the meeting, Executive Chairman, Nat Rothschild, will make the following statement on trading for the three months ended June 2021. "I am pleased to report that the levels of customer demand we experienced in the second half of FY2021 have continued into the first quarter of FY2022 . Performance in Consumer Electricals remains very strong and Electric Vehicle revenues continue to grow, reflecting our leading position in this sector. Our Medical and Complex Industrial Technology customers are also experiencing a healthy recovery in areas where there had been reduced demand in FY2021 due to challenges imposed by the pandemic. DE-KA, the leading European domestic appliance power cord supplier, which was acquired in February this year, has continued to trade well. Against this continued, robust performance, we remain mindful of the potential impact on trading caused by supply chain shortages, material cost inflation and freight challenges, as well as the ongoing operational issues posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. We successfully passed through the copper price inflation experienced earlier in the year and our global supply chain and customer service teams remain focused on ensuring that we continue to meet our customers' expectations. Cash flow in the first quarter has been robust which, combined with our balance sheet strength, provides us with the financial flexibility to advance further opportunities from our acquisition pipeline. Overall, whilst still early in the year, the positive trends in the first quarter lead the Board to expect to deliver full year underlying operating profit slightly ahead of current market expectations(1) ." (1) Latest company compiled view of market expectations shows an underlying operating profit consensus of $50.0m with a range of $48.9 million to $51.0 million.

Was it? Are you sure it wasn’t just retiring from the board of Volex? He’s 51, I very much doubt he’s retired. At least I had the decency to wait until I was 52... 🤓

One of the (various) reasons given for Morris’s departure was that he was retiring. If so strange to see him resurfacing after just 6 months… This doesn’t sit well with me as a shareholder

Thamestrader and ymaheru . I agree with Thanestrader that the heat pumps will be useless because the amount of heat which they provide in a property is , apparently , quite low , which will mean that property owners will be forced to spend a lot of money and , in the process , damage their property , by installing triple glazing and / or extra insulation either on the inside or outside of external walls . Also , the metal tanks which are an integral part of such installations require a lot of space , which will be a major issue in smaller properties . I suspect that , by producing such a low level of heat , these heat pumps will increase deaths by hypothermia - even here in the South-East , it was bitterly cold a few months ago . I’m sure that ymaheru is correct in stating that 80% of British homes are heated with gas but , as today’s Telegraph points out , why on earth is Westminster insisting on forcing us all to ditch gas central heating and expensively reconfigure our homes with heat pumps when , at the same time , the Nord Strom 2 pipeline , designed to pump gas from Russia to Germany , is almost completed , pshowing that Germany and the surrounding countries intend to be dependent on gas for umpteen years to come . Apologies to others here for going off-piste here - shan’t repeat it , but moderately euphoric with almost all my SCSW shares nicely up in the last few days . Good luck all .

The former Chief Operating Officer for Volex during the turnaround years - Rothschild took all the plaudits (and fair enough, holding 25% of the shares) but Morris was always the better informed on the detail when it came to analysts calls etc. Basically he appeared (to me) to be the one who knew how to do the detail and deliver.
