It's a murky old business - month after month of no movement, then the Chairman goes and it finally moves - on minimal volume. Possibly/probably some background demand not yet filled therefore not yet reported, but on the face of it so far, it's difficult to see the volume that one would expect on what has been around a 20% rise so far. But I'm not one to grumble...

115-120 is clearly key, having come up to this level and fallen away badly twice before. Then 140 being the point before the December profit warning. Personally not even thinking about it until 140.

"Volex (VLX) shooting up again today. Looks like overhang finally cleared? Long sideways moves seem to be precursor to big rises."

The market looks 6-9 months fwd buywell2 - the growth in the coming year is what will come into focus imo.

New boards take 12-18 months for their effects to show through imo. But the share price usually starts to react shortly after the board changes imo. Initially it's often reasonably modest but by the time you see the actual good news being reported the share price has often doubled or more imo.

These were doing 24p eps or so a year or so ago and are easily capable of far more under management that know what they are doing imo and these have often traded on fwd PE's of 15-20.

So while there's plenty of work to do there's plenty of reward there if they get it right imo.

Broke out to a 5 month high yesterday too:

All imo/dyor etc.

If we can break 115 then we should see 150 - Depends on the boys with the big pockets and whether they wish to break the resistance.

Fundamentally I can see a case for doing so as it appears the business is on a turnaround with new management, cost cutting and firm copper price. With a decent dividend as a bonus.

From a technical aspect the most exciting is the narrow consolidation of the last 7 months and the stock now appears to be breaking out.

''There have also been delays in certain new technology development programmes, including active optical cables, impacting revenue expectations in the current year and leading to growth next year. ''

Bit in the Times

Business big shot: Karen Slatford of Volex

All change at Volex after Mike McTighe, chairman of the company that makes high-specification electric cables used by Apple, announced his exit. Mr McTighe follows the finance director and chief executive out the door after a dramatic nine months.

Mr McTighe has held 17 chairmanships since the turn of the century, including a long stint at Pace, the set-top box maker, and a step outside the technology sector with a spell at JJB Sports.
Big shoes to fill, then. Volex has not looked too far, however, after promoting Karen Slatford, who joined the board in 2008 and became deputy chairman last December. Ms Slatford, who is also a director of the software company Micro Focus, is a veteran of Hewlett-Packard, where she spent two decades.
She chairs The Foundry, a high-growth Carlyle-backed special effects company, which worked on the films Avatar and Black Swan, but faces a different task at Volex. The company appointed Christoph Eisenhardt, who was previously at Siemens and KVT-Koenig Group, as chief executive in May after pre-tax profit collapsed 90 per cent.
Ms Slatford, who met her husband at university, holds a joint honours degree in French and Spanish from Bath University.

I've been buying this from around 99p a few weeks ago but I'm now seriously worried. I bought on the basis that this company has great potential but suffered from poor management. Well, all that is being sorted out. So what bothers me, you ask? It's the absence of Buybadly2. Whenever he arrives spreading doom and gloom, as he did a short while ago on this BB, it usually portends an improvement in price. So now I'm worried that he has disappeared. Please come back, we need you!!!!!!!!

Picked up a lot in the past few days, New CEO, GD and Chair - that's what the co needs imo.

Walsh gone - not up to the job.

Copper rising - demand increasing via electricals imo.

All imo/dyor etc.
