It had been down to sub 85p ish level in Dec 12, it bounced back to the 100p level. 95p is not really a significant move away from 100p IMHO just as 110p was nothing to get excited about.

If the debt reduction continues and cost cutting continues variations in profitability are nothing to get excited about.

None the less the chart looks very dodgy now

I hope whoever it is is not paying a fiver a trade commission. :-8) Must be someone with DMA a mm possibly. Have seen this type of thing before for manipulation purposes but this is to big.

It seems to coincide with several larger 'O' trade buys to negate the sells.

Phowdo,

I guessed it might be a bot, but I cannot understand how it is always being made at the bid price and it doesn't seem to shift the share price downwards. Strange.

Its a BOT (computer algorithm selling/buying a certain volume over a certain time).

The small deal size suggests it is somewhat more mischievous than plain positioning - perhaps to "paint the tape" or attempting to remove other BOTs/retail punters from DMA/market making etc.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are leveraged and have a nearby stop...

Could mean extra demand for Volex products also:

"Tentative signs that optical is strengthening...

Q1 industry data suggests that after a dismal 2012 (-10%), the optical markets are starting to show signs of recovery with global WDM shipments up 10% in Q1 driven by 100G deployments, and particular strength in the US and Asia. Q1 reporting from the likes of Alcatel Lucent, Cisco and Juniper broadly supports this notion. "

Perhaps the CFO preferred to work for a company where he could see the company's stocks in cardboard boxes and feel the cold copper against his flesh! None of that cloudy, big data mumbo-jumbo.....

Daniel Abrams only started at VLX in December 12 after and in response to the profit warnings. I assume he was Ray Walsh's appointment and the new CEO who started on 1st July either doesn't rate him or doesn't get on and wants his own man. Probably nothing sinister.

.....and as PP stated on his blog if he can reproduce the hype of Wandisco here 'this time next year Rodney.............'

I don't think today's reaction was to the inline statement, it was to the director change imo.

A tad cheeky:

"Volex plc ('Volex' or the 'Group'), the global provider of electrical, digital and optical connectors, today announces the appointment of Nick Parker as Chief Financial Officer, effective from 1 September 2013"

So no announcement that the current FD was going, just make it look like the mkt knew - or did I miss this news.

I'd say the FD going was good news but the market will wonder why he's going until the waters are cleared at the next results imo

VLX uses copper lots of it, and copper is currently cheap.

sundance,

yes you are right of course. However, these are two completely different companies operating in different markets. I am interested in VLX but recent statements haven't given us any forward guidance, the Market is quite ruthless when this isn't given. The recent RNS seems to imply no growth this year, whereas DIA gives us this information. Yes, they issued a profit warning, but the impact of this was already discounted, suggesting that DIA know how to communicate with the market. Also, some parts of the business(DIA) is stagnating, the management have clearly articulated why this is and they imply that is just a short term blip(at least I hope so). Personally, I think DIA is a better performing technology company with a well defined moat. Whereas, VLX appears to be cyclical. Also, I wonder if they are losing share of the market as cables are less widely used with the consumer, with the advent of WIFI, etc. Cables will still be needed though, but they may need to re-position themselves in the market.
