I am not so sure about the tender offer announced today. Is the Vodafone issuing new notes to pay for the notes which will be expired in 2025? Can someone explain to me the announcement of today?

Market down half a percent, VOD down 1.8%, a bit of a caning today.

Though BT did a lot worse.

15.05.2024 - following the right-sizing of the portfolio as a result of the sale of Vodafone Spain and Vodafone Italy, the Board has determined to adopt a new rebased dividend from FY25 onwards. The Board is targeting a dividend of 4.5c per share for FY25, with an ambition to grow it over time. The new dividend has been set at a sustainable level, which ensures appropriate cash flow cover and sufficient flexibility to invest in the business for growth. The Board has also approved a capital return through share buybacks of up to €2.0 billion of proceeds from the sale of Vodafone Spain. The Board anticipates the opportunity for further share buybacks of up to €2.0 billion following the completion of the sale of Vodafone Italy, which is expected in the first half of 2025.

It's a start, not exactly helping the SP, though BT has moved higher today.

Still waiting for a decisive and sustained move up, as for over a year now it's been unable to maintain a break above 80p and spent much of the time substantially below that.

The board share awards issued last July remain underwater to the tune of over £3m, though Luka's buy in March this year is almost at breakeven (down about £500 according to my spreadsheet).

Still, I'd rather see these track sideways in a weak market than head back into the mid to low 60s.
