Nice day here.. :o)

The Board has also approved a capital return through share buybacks of up to €2.0 billion of proceeds from the sale of Vodafone Spain. The Board anticipates the opportunity for further share buybacks of up to €2.0 billion following the completion of the sale of Vodafone Italy, which is expected in the first half of 2025.

I agree as I remain quite bullish but I’m one of the lucky ones to have just bought recently and now showing profit already - its a matter of just sitting on your hands for the next 12 months and taking the 5% yield and in 12 months time it should be around 120p and beyond hopefully.

PS - It was a coronal mass ejection - a combination of a coronal hole and sunspots!

In London, Vodafone rose 4.7% after reporting a return to growth in Germany, as it delivered full-year results slightly ahead of its expectations.

The Newbury, Berkshire-based telecommunications provider said pretax profit fell 88% to EUR1.62 billion in the financial year that ended March 31 from EUR13.07 billion the year prior.

Vodafone said this primarily reflects business disposals in the prior financial year, in particular the EUR8.6 billion gain on the disposal of Vantage Towers.

Revenue declined by 2.5% to EUR36.72 billion from EUR37.67 billion a year prior.

Chief Executive Margherita Della Valle said Vodafone was "delivering growth in all of our markets across Europe and Africa."

She said the performance was "slightly ahead of expectations" but stressed "much more still needs to be done."

Guru, there was a mass ejaculation recently, I don't think it was entirely related to sunspots...

Hopefully sentiment has finally turned positive, after seven or eight attempts to break 70p it would be good to leave it behind.

Having subcontracted to Vodafone in 2014 as an IT consultant, I've seen first hand just how they operate. And how much money they had sloshing around being wasted. I'm of the view that the CEO has started to get a grip with an overly large and complicated business.

A couple of years down the line could see investors well rewarded.

I reckon if you guys put your minds to it, with only 10 images, you would have covered every aspect related to VOD, direct and indirect, plus prices to act upon those

And those prices ought to be , say, where pension/income/growth funds etc must act

10 images, and none of you would need post again until next event

Simple right?

So why not do that?

Ps one must admit that II has provided some valuable contributions amongst the diatribe - if only he could limit his postings! But I am asking for the impossible.

it is impossible but you do have a fair point. I would do it by images but cant share them so that nulls that

Davius - you seem to be a great mind reader, at least mine anyway! You seem to be able to have a canny ability to recognise the smelly stuff from the bulls.

Of course the planetary alignment effect is insignificant as we are near the peaks of the 11 year sunspot cycle which is highly correlated with bull markets.

I I:I echo astorcourt's sentiments as to your valuable input. I also concur with your view regarding BT, which is the sixth most shorted FTSE stock.

MDV has stuck to her guns and turned this leviathan round. I also see the debt burden being substantially reduced once those fundamental restructuring changes kick in coupled with interest rate reductions. I'm also impressed with the Board's stance vis a vis government regarding the Three merger and do not perceive a London delisting as an idle threat. As to possible corporate action involving US telcos that becomes more likely by the hour. There have been rumours regarding utilisation of proven VOD technology in respect of boosting Starlink and SpaceX ....what a move that would be?

BT is targeted big style for a bluechip. Id rather dump it out if i was holding it and add here

i do not see the point in having risk there when return cant be better for it than in VOD alone

The shorters imo, know something

you dont build up to near 3% short on a bluechip near 5 year lows or whatever it is, without some knowledge

They would be exposed to huge risk coming into financials, without having feelers on something we dont know
