powowow,

I understand where you are coming from and it is the way it is going to go. Whether it is going to be VDS I am not entirely sure as i'm not an expert in that area. I think it could well be the way forward for the likes of Sony who have their computer compatible Bravia TV screens and also have their library of films using the VDS streaming solution they can deliver the product to the end user in the knowledge it can't be copied/pirated- this is one of the biggest issues in the film industry.

That is the future however in the meantime VDS have got to make cashflow in the next few months and the impression is that the pipeline of new leads is growing rapidly which all be well will be increase after IBC next week.

Worth keep an eye on what is happening with their partner in the Philippines Netvision. They are streaming live TV 24/7 at the moment over the net - IPTV is truely here. A matter of time before others sign up IMHO.

Thanks Monty Panesar. I guess the question for me would be this.
Is VIY clients and their clients markets possibly where people don't want to sign up to satellite services for example but have a computer.. I mean it would be neat if they have a little box, it sends the signal to the TV, there are stuff out there doing something like this already, and as such people in other countries can switich over to the AV channel, linked to PC and watched streamed channel on TV via this service.. which maybe normally they could not get.

So if they can get channels on this service that are either exclusive or unique then I think they will do very well.

Any thoughts welcomed.

Re #835 I've asked two of our senior technical 'Heads of Dept' to take a look at VDS at IBC and let me know what they think.

Best wishes - Mike

VDS is displaying at IBC, (International Broadcasters Convention)in Amsterdam (Sept 7 -12)it is the World's second most important broadcast showcase (after NAB in Las Vegas). They are sending a very large team:

Visit the Vividas stand to view live and on-demand streaming, full screen and in high definition. Demos include HD film trailers sports, concerts and corporate announcements. Live streams from London and New York are showing throughout the show.

Vividas delivers full-screen, broadcast-quality video streamed over the Internet and within corporate networks. Content is given the greatest possible reach as platform-agnostic technology means the end user does not need to download a media player to play the clip. Vividas encoded content is able to stream through corporate firewalls and requires 20-30% less bandwidth than competing video player formats, meaning Vividas video can be viewed over any connection. This creates optimal reach, delivery and cost efficiency, while maximising the viewing experience so audiences are engaged in content for longer.

Vividas' streaming technology has been used by Ford, Zurich, Foster's Group, Nestle and for online trailers for Sony Pictures and UIP.

Representatives attending the exhibition:

Fran Robinson Marketing Manager
Andrew Wilding European MD
Paul Neville CEO
Simon Collins Account Director
Caroline Teunissen Account Director
Michael Richie Account Director
Daniel Fergerson Account Director
Jan Holthusen Technical Director
James Cotti Video Specialist
Greg Minns Group MD

Unfortunately I shall miss this year (on location) but wish them - and us - the very best of luck. - Mike

powwow. Probably not a lot is the true answer. However this should start to change in the last 2/3 months of the year. The last 6 months have been about putting the building bricks in place.

Fox soccer for example. The company don't know whether they are going to get 500 people or 50,000 watching per week. If they get to 50,000 per week(which I don't think they will for a while) then you are getting close to break even. You can work on £1 per viewing. Will it get rolled out to other territories eg Asia where the figures would be much higher. How far will Fox roll it out internally? Is this the trigger to other deals with other majors?

Adult- could be more predictable as it is an established market. We are waiting for further news here.

Essentially you are still buying the concept but the cashflow wil be far easier to judge in a few months time.

I think there are many irons in the fire. Some of the irons will disappoint and others will really catch on.

The overall market is huge and VDS technology is as good as anything out there. I just feel it is a matter of time.

does anyone have any idea what they are currently earning as a guess with current deals and what kind of commercial deal do they offer someone like fox... Basically deals are fine, but what are they worth?

One advance in the technology to look out for will be in supporting the new(ish) Intel Macintosh machines.

Although Intel Macs only represent around 5% of the market as a whole, they are very important within the creative arena. They are especially important in the world of video. Once Vividas have launched their Intel Mac technology (which isn't too far off, I hear) there will be a number of media owners that will be looking into launching Vividas player products that are currently holding off for the time being.

the analyst.
It is still early days. The very creditable growth rate of 72% for FY '06 over '05 only added £139,999 revenue. Operating costs were £3,450,000. Sales growth for H1 '07 was 38%. At that rate it would take several years to reach profitability.

This week's contract is expected to yield £1m extra turnover next year - not nearly enough to reach profitability. However there is much more to come from Fox/Sky if this football contract is smoothly executed and if VDS can keep ahead technically and their patents remain effective. The global pot is enormous and visible, but there are others pursuing the same goals.

Well Google paid $1.6bn for YouTube- not sure what revenue it was generating.
OK it isn't going to happen here but that is 40 times the market cap of VDS.

Adult will become the cash cow. The film side will have to get gradual acceptance. The Fox deal although relatively small at the moment could if rolled out to the rest of Fot Sports could become a multi million pound a year cash generator relatively quickly.

The market will pick up on this in it's own good time. I imagine this autumn with a few more Fox type deals.

The market hasn't yet cottoned on to the enormity of this application or it's fee earning prospects; for a piddly UK business to be pinching $1M plus deals from MSN (Microsft FFS!) video, the share price has failed to really appreciate it's significance and has a long, long way to go yet!

In cases like this the m/c is irrelevant - be it £2M, £20m or £200M - once the story gets out to the wider public (and the tip sheets and journos) the share will attract a large following.

It's certainly a share for the 21st Century.

Thanks Analyst.

I agree with what you say, there's clearly alot of expectation for contract wins already embedded in the share price That said, I'd hope that news such as this would beging to remove some of the uncertainty around the company's ability to secure the bigger contracts.

Whe you look at the market cap, being over £20m, there is obviously a lot of expectation for big contract wins written into the price.

The results in September will make or break the company imo. If they are not getting traction by then, then I doubt they ever will.

The figures you can expect from the ppv sports deal like Fox is that VDS will get 45-50% of the totak revenue. It is a case of trying to estimate how many people will watch. If they can get 50,000 watching per week you are looking at some very significant figures.
On the adult and film side you are looking at VDS taking 25% of revenue. The fim side is a bit hit and miss depending on the popularity. For instance The Secret, the first ppv film, which VDS did pretty much for free as a reference case, after a few months was getting 40,000 subscribers per month which to me was pretty impressive.

The adult side is where they have to keep a little quiet but that is where the easy money is as it is an existing market.

For sony type deas it is based on a viewed minutes basis.

Last years accounts are a bit of an irrelevence as they are only going fully commercial now. It has taken time to get the functionality buttons sorted out etc.

Things like www.netvision.ph will go live in the next 6 weeks or so and they will be showing their legendary boxer called Pacman
where they are quite likely to get 50,000 people watching the fight using VDS software.

They have a lot of fingers in pies. I expect many more fox deals such as for american football etc etc - great for Americans working overseas where games aren't shown.

I really think this could fly at some stage."

New update from lemming investor.......

'Vividas Promotional efforts from the company's own Stands at several exhibitions this year and the plan to open a sales office in Los Angeles during the current period, are building a pipeline of new client leads. The launch of new products: a new player, Digital Rights Management to protect copyright and combat counterfeiting, a payment gateway and a High Definition on-demand encoder have helped Vividas maintain its technical lead for IP video over Microsoft Windows Media Player and Adobe Real Player.

The contract and its implications Yesterday's RNS of a three year contract with Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) – part of News Corporation (NYSE:NWS) - is a major breakthrough, and with its potential for rapid viral expansion throughout international sport, also bids to transform the company's cash flow in FY 2008. ....'

Regardless of what lemming have to say, I'm suprised that the announcement of the biggest contract so far hasn't resulted in a larger tick up in the share price

You're right, there's a lot more to come from the Fox deal.

"The Live product, which has been demonstrated to many
large corporations, is now moving into trial periods, notably
for one of USA's major TV networks, for the live streaming of
European Football Championship Qualifiers."

The above is an extract from the AR.

You would assume it was with Fox and so with the European Championship qualifiers round the corner they will be doing that as well. Having said that you would assume the Premiership deal is just the tip of the iceberg and Fox will use it as their proprietary live sports platform.

I hear that EK thinks it is dirt cheap with an emphasise on the "Dirt". They should start to get revenue streams from three revenue streams relatively shortly. Adult/sport and film revenue should start to ramp up in the next few months. Sport obviously from now. Film- I think moviepol starts in Sept. Adult-think the XOVOD exclusivity break is imminient- shame they got into trouble with NZ regulator.
I don't think this company will be around in a year...for positive reasons of course!!
