RNS 5th Jan:

Ahmet Dik, CEO of VOG commented, “Cameroon has a very important industrial hub in Douala that has seen significant growth and cross border investment over the last five years, both into manufacturing and the power sector.

We remain confident that ENEO and the Government will rapidly find a solution that will allow GDC to continue to supply gas to ENEO and to build on the relationships we have developed with all stakeholders over the past three years.

Cameroon is an area that is in critical need of more power, with an estimated demand in excess of 150mmscf/d of gas in the Douala basin. We remain focused on increasing thermal customer demand in Douala whilst also continuing to supply gas to our 30 other customers, building non-grid solutions for its industrial customers and advancing the compressed natural gas business whilst maintaining our strong position as the sole provider to the region.”

I think you have me confused sir, I don't recall scoffing at Malcy's bucket list, unless maybe in a fit of primordial chemical anger, frustration....if I did and have forgotten I will retract and concur.

SDX drill gas wells that go direct into existing infrastructure and get paid straight away...and that's Morocco.

EME Dempsey well straight into production at 140m scuffs.....Californi...A

sub saharan Africa is a different ball game.....it's 10-20 years behind.

and ignore HAAK, those other projects are years off, at best, and there's no guarantee they'll happen at all.

They are basically on care and maintenance now until the power issue is resolved, retail thermal will never fill the void...in hindsight they should never have completed 2 very expensive wells with no security....just seems to me like Cam gov are the Organ Grinder and VOG the monkey....still, the BOD get paid well whatever transpires.

There's now no point drilling La-109, or doing the Bowleven deal or starting work on Matanda....it's all in abeyance, and I wouldn't expect it to get resolved anytime soon....if it was going to, Malcy being very close to the company, wouldn't be dropping it from his bucket list....fact

"mm's setting the bid in the first place - at whatever level they think they will attract buyers/sellers....."

now I know you are making it up as you go along

The mm's don't set the bid/ask prices

The nearest they get to that is if they take a big sell or buy order and a they will then ask you what average price you want to achieve for the whole lot. They will then drip feed them into the market to try and hit their target average.

Believe it or not I have as a seller been in that position.

the bid/ask is governed by the book and anyone who enters an order on the book. The book includes orders that are not intended to be filled.

Its a sets stock.

Joe, the Mm,s don't set the price, buyers and sellers do, I'm repeating myself so last time, check out the electronic order book and "matched bargains" anyone with direct market access can place a trade at whatever price the want.

Fat - you're missing a piece - Its the mm's setting the bid in the first place - at whatever level they think they will attract buyers/sellers.

Take VOG's recent share price action - Putting aside whether it was right to release that rns after Friday close. The mm's then had a dicision to make as to where to set the price on Monday open - they could have opened at Fridays close but that would not be smart as it would induce a wave of sellers looking to get out on the negative news at current prices. SO, after consideration, they opened at 37p, a drop of 26%, because thats where they thought the market should be. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant, it is what happened. Furthermore, Had the share price continued to fall the mm's would have had to buy that stock, even if they had no buyers to sell them onto.

joe, that's a rather simplistic explanation, what you're maintaining is that a market maker will buy shares at a particular quoted bid endlessly because that's their job, clearly that's not the case, the bid will drop as that particular order is filled simply because it moves on to the next quoted price, I refer back you to "matched bargain"

Nice post smoky

Its a rather simple explanation of what actually occurs in the process of buying and selling. Presumably written in that very low level style for general consumption.

If you believe market makers buy anything they can't immediately offload then its a great but flawed way to make a market.

They do occcasionally get caught short as the market can move very quickly against them.

By far the most important factor for any market maker is speed, everybody else is cannon fodder.

HAAS

and before you ask again, I have no idea
