Larry - if that is your understanding of the mechanics and function of the equity markets and its participants, good luck to you, I bear you no ill will. You can keep your condescention though.

Don't set up business as an mm, you will be broke in 5 minutes and holding lots of shares at high prices.

Stop smoking the dope and wait for an hour or two for it to wear off. Think about the simple logic

Buy at one price ( low )

Sell at another price ( high )

Don't get caught holding any shares overnight. Theres lots can happen after hours that you have no control over and have no opportunity to react to.

And in case you are wondering mm's have to maintain enough money in their account to cover their exposure in the market. Which is why KCG no longer trade, they lost $450m in 45 minutes. They simply had no cash left after coughing up.

Fat - It is precisely because the mm's will buy stock (as a last resort) that the share price won't reach 0p.

joe, if its as you say why is the share price not 0p? you cant argue that the market makers are buying the shares over the bid and they are just acting in a philanthropic manner, that would be silly

As it has been 2 weeks and not a mention from our board of directors I thought I would compile a list to help them out, please feel free to add to it as other holders see fit.

Free tips for BOD
Things to try
1. Resign as you have never created shareholder value.
2. Sell the company as the infrastructure should give a higher return than the market cap. Gazprom seems a good fit.
3. Sell/Farm out West Med (hint the oil price has recovered).

Things not to try
1. Come up with yet another jam tomorrow idea that will cost shareholders yet again.

As the market is currently offering more than the current offer price for large quantities of stock I would say that they have a large order to fill.

The electronic order book works on a matched trade basis Joe, as do most other trade types

So there is no need for an mm to accumulate shares these days. - really Larry?, if the mm's dont buy the stock (as the buyer of last resort,)the stock effectively become's worthless. Being able to trade at the speed of light is irrelevant if you don't have buyers. Even 'Instant electronic trading' requires buyers, believe it or not Larry.

we now have enough clowns to launch a circus.

"Who said anything about them wanting to sit on the shares ?, no doubt they want to sell them on, but tell me who is going to buy them after the recent news ?? - I suspect only the odd chancer who's willing to take a gamble."

there is a US outfit buying up shares. we were told only earlier this week that they had crossed 5% of the company. 5% in 2018 is more than 5% in 2017. lots of buying going on. why not call them up and correct them in their ways? give them your informed opinion that on all their research they are but a "odd chancer".

there is no need for an mm to accumulate shares these days.

Instant worldwide electronic trading has effectively binned that business model.

I think you will find most trading today is "arbitrage" trading, same as under the "paper" model but because of the methods involved in the old days it occurred in much longer time scales using paper.

Trading occurs at much greater speeds than the time when traders threw bits of paper about in the "pit"

and before you ask HAAS, I don't know what this means either.

The roll of the market makers not what it was, they certainly don't accumulate stock like they might have in the past.

Conspiracies aside, the share price isn't going up because there is little, if any, demand from buyers for stock. The fact that the shares are being 'moped up' is simply down to mm's buying them off the sellers, which is their job after all.
