I never had a telephone made out of neoprene but treasured my Mickey Mouse (by Disney) hand set.

Cougar99, have you been cryogenically frozen, only to be brought back to life in the year 2016 ..do you know Sherlock Holmes, I think he had a Bakerlite telephone..

neoprene: a brief history

I have some fond memories of Neoprene ....

OK, so now time to get back on-topic: Back to SG.....

Well I grew-up with Bakelite .....

Bakelite GPO telephones in particular were regarded as a status symbol, an item of pure luxury.

Note NR's closing comment in the RNS: "whilst we remain focussed on core technologies and applications for graphene, particularly carbon fibre....etc"

It's clear to me that he needed to say this as he senses a danger here, of being seen by his potential partners and customers to be chasing every rainbow and failing to focus on the big immediate prize, which is world leadership in graphene-enhanced carbon fibre. This was clearly a message to the OEM that VRS is not taking its eye off the ball. There are many examples of brilliant technology companies failing in the key stages of commercialisation through trying to do too many things at once without the financial and human resources to handle it. Lets hope the team is up to this aspect of the challenge.

I note a number of relatively small sells this morning. Let us hope that the day traders have not arrived.

FWIW VRS ranked no 20 on the LSE/AIM 'leader board' of rising shares yesterday. With the RNS revealing to the public what SG has already told us, who know what the rest of the week will bring to the share price.

Re: this stream of big sells. Who in his right mind is doing the selling? Will Battrick?

Indeed - well spotted in advance for todays RNS. If you have any other advance notifications of what will be in next RNS then please share :-)

With all the developments and VRS's finger in many pies then I doubt we will see share price dip down to single figure again.... onwards and upwards ....

Pity I won't be in Blighty at time of the investor event otherwise I'd ensure I made the time to attend.

On the trades there is a late report in for 200k which must have been yesterday due to the trade price.

News today

That's what I spotted the other day via another route (NGI/UOM) and posted about. I didn't realise it would end up as an RNS.

Imo it's a good idea to keep an eye on shares for the above reason. Due to the collaborations and cross-over into the NGI and UOM bits pop up via various routes for VRS.

29th September

Major award for graphene and 2D materials in biomedicine

£5.2m grant will examine how nanomaterials work in the human body
Research could potentially allow targeted drug delivery systems to attack cancer cells

Two specialist SME graphene companies, Versarien and Graphenea, will also collaborate with materials and industrial upscale expertise.

I did look up Graphenea and They don't seem to do GNPs but do oxides.

Trades

Looking back now at the large trades that were going on with some late reported is over the last few days it seems the supply involved sells of around 2 million shares on the 24th. A 1 mill from the 24th was reported yesterday.

24th

200k, 250k, 300k x 2, 500k and 1 mill. (2.5 mill approx)

25th

possibly 2 x 200k

26th

200k post close auction time.

10th 'Back door' mid price large trade total 600k shares
11th 120k
13th 175k
14th 335k (1 trade)

Last week VRS was quiet with just 290k volume for the entire week.

On the large trades it looks like sells of over 4 million but someone other than PIs must have picked those up. We'll have to wait and see if there are any more late reports from yesterday.

There was nothing really of note in August or September.

It seems to me a fund/large buyer has been taking up loose stock since the recent news.

The vast majority of the action has appeared post the carbon fibre news on the 13th.

He was right though :-)

Aa team at the Cavendish Laboratory has managed the same feat, using a new technique to estimate the value of the "Hubble Constant". This measures how quickly objects in the universe are receding from each other - a natural outcome of the Big Bang that created the universe. Dr Richard Saunders, who led the research, sounded a trifle abashed by the result. "We have taken two measurements for the constant, and the average of them is, well, it's 42," he said. But he insisted this is "entirely fortuitous" - though thousands of fans of the Hitch Hiker novels might disagree.

I tick all the available boxes and volume isn't one of them. I note no trades for todays action are marked as late reported, time for that yet of course. They they also knocked it up a little so I wonder if the supply is starting to dry up.

The open day

I don't know how many are looking on but here is the agenda for the day (from the registration site)

Coffee and introductions to team
Brief update on graphene developments and the acquisition of AAC
Meet and question the directors.
Tour of AAC Cyroma.

So if anyone wants questions asked list them here.

If anyone wants a question asked but doesn't want to post here ( I know there are some that don't post) PM me and I'll list your question on here so those interested can see the questions. I won't ID who you are.

If you click the arrow next to names the drop down gives the message option

I get the impression there is a bit of excitment aorund the carbon fibre and enhanced plastics performance. Hint sinks are disruptive bu the lighter stronger world seems to be trying to advance as fast as possible. In the case of GNPs it seems it has been a case of waiting for results to prove performance enhancement then the technology to produce high quality GNPs in volume along with dispersion.

Hayd has a £30 mill M/C and their game is the dispersion technology which should tell the market how important dispersion is.

As said the 2 missing pieces for me to go with the GNP lead were end products and dispersion capability to complete the chain.

Now VRS said they were working with Warwick on dispersion and in the questions I asked about that and they said that it will be discussed at the open day.

So have they got viable dispersion? If no why buy a plastics company and call it the owlrds first dedicated enhanced garpehen plastics factory if they don't have the capability to disperse GNPs into plastics effectively.

So if you get to material supply capabilty with the best product, have the data and disperision capabilty to take it forward, then if you look at the companies with a desire for lighter stronger materials, logically demand will be high.

Well, sometimes an extra 2cm is important. At least VRS share price going in right direction now. Must be something in the molecules. Let's see what come of this by Xmas ..... Look forward to more research postings from you. As regards the Beemer - did you go for the Graphene wheel options instead of alloys?

Nope at the moment it's golf due and fear of a course with 5 par 3's. I'd much rather 5 par 5's as I can hit the give it a good whack at times. Perhaps I will dream of GNP enhanced golf shafts to gain an extra 2 cm on the drives. Serious stuff on a 50p per hole game. I never have quite worked that one out on the pence betting on a game of golf. They get the clubs out of the new BMW, take the private cart off the trailer and then it's 50p a hole at best, with double or quits on the last hole to try to save the £1.50 match play loss staring you in the face.

I enjoy digging out information. Large holders and their positions are important when considering timing and supplies so I'm quite pleased about the findings over the last 24 hrs.

It's never good imo to see Blackrock listed either, why they invest in small caps I don't know, they are so unpredictable and just randomly dump the lot on many shares.

Some say oooohhh Black rock, I say Oh b+llks Black rock

Quite sad really but this explains it. I wasn't ware of this prior to the previous posts.

I was well aware if you get a change of a fund mananger it's often the case that a new manager gets rid of some companies altogether adding the ones the new manager likes.

In the case of Unicorn I note a smaller fund manager died in June 14 which was probably the catalyst for the dumping of VRS shares by that fund/new manager.

I'm pretty sure I have found at elast one seller. Deatils below plus some other bits I picked up while looking.

14th May 2015 Unicorn notified the sale of 1.3 mill shares taking them to 4.37 mill shares. In that news 5% was breached. They listed them under 2 funds UK growth and UK smaller.

I have found a pdf for them dated 31st March 2016 as holding just over 2 million in those 2 funds (475k and 1.54 mill) so they had sold a further 2 million between 14/5/16 and 31/3/16.

I suspect it will be the offshore rule of notifications on 10% and 5% breaches hence there is no 3% breach news which clearly happened before March 2016. It's seems reasonable to assume they have kept selling and may be the supply or part of the supply in recent weeks.

Henderson

I now know they got the shares for the Strathclyde pension fund. That fund report date March 14 to March 15 saw a holding jump from 8 mill to 10.3 mill.

I don't like such a large holding with one fund like Henderson but it's clearly not the case. I checked the Henderson fund and found 6.7 mill (Mar 15) in their smaller cap fund.

Henderson on the notifactions post placing are shown as 26.5 mill. So far I've accounted for 17 million of those in Strathclyde case and the Henderson smaller company fund. Obviously some like Strathclyde use Henderson to acquire a position
