21/2/2017 16:53 | 'The novel method uses ultrahigh shear forces in a microfluidisation process to exfoliate graphene flakes from graphite. The process converts 100% of the starting graphite material into usable flakes for conductive inks,' Sounds like they are having to use 3 in 1 oil on the pencil sharpeners now! | luckyorange
21/2/2017 16:52 | As you say superg1 exciting stuff, things are moving so quick at the moment its hard to keep up. Looking forward to Friday that's for sure. | billbyrne
21/2/2017 16:48 | NO functionlisation needed it seems. Functionalisation is about additives. "These high-yield inks contain a high concentration of chemically unmodified few-layer graphene, leading to excellent conductivity of the final printed material." | superg1
21/2/2017 16:45 | Bill I just found that too and it adds some good detail to the graphene ink. In fact not only is it about the ink but a new way to produce graphene for that specific ink. Exciting stuff High yield inks These high-yield inks contain a high concentration of chemically unmodified few-layer graphene, leading to excellent conductivity of the final printed material. The inks also give an excellent sheet resistance below 2 Ω/sq, suitable for RFID antennas and electrodes in optoelectronic or energy storage devices. These inks are ideal for applications where low-cost is important. | superg1
21/2/2017 16:40 | MM's were stepping out of the way at the close! | bones
21/2/2017 16:36 | Not sure if this has been posted, article on graphene ink. | billbyrne
21/2/2017 16:34 | On the caution side we have absolutely no idea if Mclaren are going to add it to their F1 car and launch it this Friday. Not even VRS would have a clue However all the song and dance about graphene and carbon fibre by them along with comments seems to point that way. Whatever happens that further order is going into something. | superg1
21/2/2017 16:25 | There is a livestream so we can all watch | theklf
21/2/2017 16:23 | If true - that they looked at it then, that hints that graphene was probably acceptable then, so perhaps even more likely now - who knows? Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
21/2/2017 16:23 | Research on the petrol head sites strongly suggest a change of livery to orange. | handygandhi
21/2/2017 16:22 | Perhaps: "I'm now hearing..."? | mikkydhu
21/2/2017 16:12 | It may not be in the F1 car but I'm sure we will find out at 11 am Friday. All the pointers suggest yes. I'm not hearing through my new grapevine that Mclaren were thinking of using it 3 years ago with a hint they couldn't get it to work back then. | superg1
21/2/2017 16:07 | Just my weird humour but I smiled at the two on the offer..... SHOC and ARRR PEEL right off the offer and on the bid so perhaps that supply is done. It tended to fit with the 2 million I suspected. Can't be sure there but that first large late trade number made it look like that supply. | superg1
21/2/2017 15:11 | Note I won't name the company and they are not UK. I used a bit of trickery in a hope to get answers but didn't expect any. I closed the door on a potential BS reply by displaying understanding of wording in their news and patents. It was being misread by most. Here is part of the reply and effectively an admission of what I thought and contradicts their news. "To answer your question: we have sufficient graphene production capacity to cover our sales of graphene as research material that we sell and satisfy our needs for internal R&D." It was nice to get a comment on what I see as a big issue too. "Another important aspect in the graphene application is processing of the graphene. GNP is fluffy black powder that is difficult to work with and technology for processing (i.e. mixing graphene with polymers in a right way, making stable dispersion, etc...), in my opinion is even more important than technology for making GNPs. In my experience, different types of graphene require different processing methods." | superg1
21/2/2017 14:59 | Rumour is that Mclaren are doing a black and orange car. On the watch launch day they have a black car with orange hexagonal matrix graphene pattern on it. On the walls above where the balcony is it's the same decor. The watch with graphene this and grpahene that, then Bouliier saying they are going to add graphene then other Mclaren bosses raving about the performance gains of Graphene. Boullier on the Mclaren website. Are there any other changes planned ahead of the new season? "As I say, there will always be changes, and that’s the way it always should be. As you know, a Formula 1 car itself never stays the same from one race to the next. Across the businesses, in fact, we’re triggering other changes – and we’ve got some exciting changes planned for our new car, the MCL32, but we want those to be kept secret until we show it to the world on February 24th!" So if it's not about graphene and adding that, WTF has all the publicity, decor, a 900k graphene watch linked to the car, dragging in NGI experts, senior staff comments and everything else been all about pre launch. And they are launching the same day as Ferrari which if it's about graphene I see a steal the limelight excercise | superg1
21/2/2017 14:29 | Hastings Nice article and clearly you have an idea re the Cambridge ink side. Have you got a grasp of the Ulster tech production side which is what had me working on this realising it was significant breakthrough in the sector. You should get that through the CEO anyway and you'll find he is a solid nice guy. | superg1
21/2/2017 13:44 | Could try abduc(k)tive reasoning, if it walks like a duck etc: Bit of light humour | luckyorange
21/2/2017 13:38 | I was getting told almost exactly this by a ten year old who loves F1 yesterday "The F1 rules - to the un-educated like me - don't make it clear one way or another" I guess if you are big enough and persuasive enough you can 'change the game' to suit you no? | theklf
21/2/2017 13:26 | KLF yes very smart of you! that is what WE are reading into it - but that doesn't make graphene a 'fact' for anything other than a watch at that stage. The F1 rules - to the un-educated like me - don't make it clear one way or another, although McLaren will no doubt have got a ruling on it (assuming there is graphene in there), which of course may be contested by other teams once launched / season commences. Looking at the change in body shape and the increased width of the ground plate (body width) there would definitely be scope there to include GNP's without them being safety critical (assuming that was a consideration for a new material?). Cheers - Mike | spike_1
21/2/2017 13:18 | There are some other pictures which makes it look like the car is falling through a hole i.e. 'ground breaking' and the #changeyourgame hashtag i.e. game-changing That is what graphene basically is ground breaking and game changing technology. Those of us with a vivid imagination can add √4+√4 and come up with √25 | theklf
21/2/2017 13:11 | Actually for me linking it to the watch launch (Richard Mille) is not necessarily a plus, as it is linking McLaren with the watch launch (solidarity), when what we want is it 'just' linked with the upcoming car launch. Ho hum. Note: it is the only McLaren tweet I've found with that graphic (date and pattern), but importantly perhaps it is the actual (first) announcement of the launch date. For those that only saw the watch launch press conference vid, there is also - somewhere - a vid of the actual car launch from someone who was there. More importantly here is a pic' of the 'real' car that was hanging in a 'dive' on the watch launch set with McLaren's driver Stoffel in the foreground. Cheers - Mike | spike_1
21/2/2017 12:43 | Well this to me just says, no, screams 'We have a GRAPHENE car' They even tagged Richard Mille on the tweet for their car thus linking how intrinsic the watch car collaboration is. Only thing to wonder now is what part do VRS play and will it be part of any public announcement or will it be kept shrouded in NDA secrecy? | theklf
21/2/2017 12:37 | No wonder no one commented on my 'brilliant' (possibly?) find as I had posted the wrong tweet - doh! Try this one: Cheers - Mike | spike_1
21/2/2017 11:28 | That 19p per share that uni of Manchester took in exchange for monies owed ain't looking too bad a deal now! | the prophet |
