03/6/2019 18:47 | Reposting uk construction strategy - new innovations, manufactured construction - modular, for export potential, and support for upto £600b worth of projects. Seems to me Vrs could be ticking boxes and creating an impressive offering ! Aimo. Best ellis MTC to help transform construction in the UK 3 Nov 2018 The Manufacturing Technology Centre has joined an alliance of experts in manufacturing, digital, building performance standards and construction technology, which has been awarded leadership of a new national hub to drive innovation and technological advances in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Following a nationwide competition, Innovate UK has awarded £72 million to the Transforming Construction Alliance to deliver a national Core Innovation Hub, which is a key element of the Transforming Construction programme....." "....The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund will strengthen research and innovation in science and business in the UK. Its Transforming Construction programme aims to support £600 billion worth of infrastructure and construction projects over the next decade, creating new processes and techniques including standardisation of modular components for manufacture." ".....There is huge potential for transformation of large parts of the construction sector to a manufacturing industry. The widespread appetite for change throughout the industry and the impact that this change will have on so many aspects of life in the UK make us enormously excited to be delivering this pivotal role. The MTC brings several key capabilities to the hub, such as design and simulation, and process and manufacturing systems development, including automation and visualisation. The complementary skills of the alliance partners will ensure we deliver for industry and Government.” BRE director Martin Ganley said: “BRE is one of the world’s leading independent knowledge centres in construction testing and performance standards for the built environment. BRE will provide expertise in the testing and validation of new products, processes, data and assets, and will support the move to digitising construction. It will also provide a leading role in industry engagement and the deployment of demonstrators at the BRE site in Watford.” Professor Andy Neely, pro-vice-chancellor: enterprise and business relations at the University of Cambridge and director of the Centre for Digital Built Britain, said, with Government and industry poised for change, the funding of the alliance is timely. “The alliance brings together three trusted organisations with strong research, development and engagement programmes to deliver the evidence base and value case for change, alongside those who will benefit most from it. CDBB will collaborate widely to deliver a digital programme that will create the framework to underpin the future built environment and grow export opportunities for the UK,” he sad..." | ellissj

HUD is the agency that coordinates over 2000 contractors, including smart city development. We have offered solutions to many issues." Mike Brenner @MikeWBrenner "Composite rapidly built houses / shelter hopefully on the list" Patrick Abbott @Patrick36271795 "3D printed and modular. A list is included on the HUD site." @investor "With Graphene enhanced concrete?" Patrick Abbott @Patrick36271795 "That is an option for horizontals; however, in verticals, strength, ballistics and hurricane testing, has shown that composite materials enhanced, will actually out perform as well as prevent microbial growth..not avoiding questions, lets not disclose too much to the industry.." @MustacheofDeath "Stronger concrete that resists ingress by moisture surely wouldn’t be of interest!? Patrick Abbott @Patrick36271795 "Exactly, the key play here is to replace moisture absorbent gypsum type materials with layers polymer options." 03/6/2019 16:24 | Spike Quite agree with your point and anyone who questions the right of Americans , whatever you think of their president, to have our gratitude should spend an hour wandering amongst the gravestones of the 19 year olds above Omaha beach. As Johnson said to de Gaulle when told to withdraw USA troops from France ‘ do you want us to take back our cemeteries too’ .. Anyway that’s a bit OT | rheumking

03/6/2019 15:03 | pshevlin - my point was directed at the earler comment as to the alleged motive for Trump's visit. Honouring the memory of - amoungst others - 200,000 US troops is a simple fact, as is the fact that that they died on European soil. Their nutrality acts made it 'difficult' for them politically to enter the war until they were themselves attacked, although they did help in may other ways prior to that. The opening of the new office will further strengthen the relations between the cities, a statement said.“Beijing and Tel Aviv, like China and Israel, are completely different in size, but share many common values: adopting technology and modernization, cherishing education, and striving to always improve our municipal systems,” said Sapir in the statement. “Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai has defined the relationship with Beijing as a prime strategic goal for our foreign relations. In recent years we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of delegations and visits from Beijing to Tel Aviv and vice versa. The opening of an economic office of Beijing here in Tel Aviv is an important development.” Zhongguancun hosts nearly 20,000 high-tech enterprises, including tech giants Lenovo, Baidu, Xiaomi and JD; 40 Chinese universities and colleges, including Peking University and Tsinghua University; and more than 200 national scientific institutions and state-level laboratories. “The Chinese Government attributes great importance to Zhongguancun science park, as home to innovation and breakthrough technologies,” said Hejun. “We know how famous Tel Aviv is for its innovation, and openness to new ideas. We have a lot to learn from you.” The Israeli office will be run by the ShengJing Group, one of China’s largest management consulting and private equity advisory firms." | ellissj
