21/3/2019 18:26 | Indeed hew; the bio of patrick reads very well in this regard. There is a testimonal re his work at xg sciences at the bottom of his linkedin page - which i tried to, but couldn't, copy across. Well worth a read. Seems a good egg to me and a great asset to vrs. 21/3/2019 18:18 | Catching up. Ellis, thanks for great detail re the presentation opportunity to Collins Aerospace on the 25th - so fully merits the RNS mention: huge potential as future client. I imagine our involvements with two Chinese aerospace outfits will get a mention - Oh, by the way....and of course, our involvement in cabin interiors for a major global airline is progressing well - FAA certification? Oh, yes, a while ago.... I once worked in technical support to sales for a US high tech organisation (part of United Technologies). Clients were used to heavy Hollywood presentation styles from the US people. I found that a gentler approach worked rather well with my Brit accent, dropping in major pluses with an "Oh yes, naturally we do that, just routine for us - think I might have a slide on it, actually." Schmally, thanks for the advice re the Reks post - well warned. | ![]() hew
21/3/2019 17:53 | Agreed - good intel stateside here. Vrs looking increasingly well positioned in the usa - just as interest generally picking up as the need arises eg here, as the switch to EV production gathers pace, 2D materials lightweighting solutions will catch greater attention ? aimo. 21/3/2019 17:07 | So pleased to read that Patrick Abbott is a Marine (“Once a Marine, always a Marine” they say). Question is: was he just a Grunt or a Flying Leatherneck? In 1970 we trained the first batch of USMC Harrier pilots at RAF Wittering, and what a great bunch of guys they were. Half of them were as sharp as tacks, but the the other half were as thick as pigsh*t, fresh from flying Helis in Vietnam. Lucky the Harrier was so easy to fly, or we could have had real problems. When they got back to Cherry Point SC they all had to show off the new jumpjet at every hick airshow on the East coast. One of them did his flying backwards bit with much too much gusto for his experience, and forgot the right way to stop, which was using the nozzles. He stuck his tail in the air to stop, and promptly nosedived into the runway. The jet broke apart and he was auto-ejected sideways, landing with a half-deployed parachute, miraculously almost unscathed. This was considered quite unremarkable at the time, because he was a Marine, and had landed on his head! If you don’t believe me it’s all on a film somewhere in the archives. Good strong guys, the US Marines. Welcome Patrick Abbott! | ![]() shavian

21/3/2019 16:59 | The RNS today was excellent news, a key piece in the development of VRS strategy, so much so, that I would have expected a podcast. As there wasn’t one and I haven’t seen anything on the liklihood of one occurring, it makes me think more news is on the way, maybe tomorrow. It Could even be the much awaited update re: Aecom which would tie in nicely with today’s US news. So is it the intention to bring out a single podcast to cover both items? It would make sense to me. Here’s hoping... | ![]() chezt
