One is a tyre company as per the Q and A. Continental featured on twitter a while back.

Also there was mention of another consumer group type company in earlier news.

Excellent regarding "China - Graphene R&D and application technology wanted by a Shandong company".

So all this on the back of Gov. That clearly shows the interest at bigger level. 04 applications received and VRS got it. Would be good to know who were the others.

Dsvemac if i recall neill stated that china dp things the other way round. We wait for demand then produce. China produce and so force demand.

re

My earlier post got lost in all the excitement over a 2p price rise, so I will repeat my question. If the demand is not there for VRS to invest in a 10kg set up, where will the demand come from for a China factory to start producing tonnes mid-year?

First up why would Shandong province want to build a 100,000 ft2 unit for Nanene production and then have factories all around it producing graphene enhanced products. Graphene valley as they call it.

Then an easy answer is the DTI ad we found for the same Province.

China - Graphene R&D and application technology wanted by a Shandong company
A research company is seeking the expertise and technology from the UK, ideally in an advanced state close to industrial applications.

The company can offer R&D opportunities which will include other leading research and academic institutions in China.

It is a public company with multiple businesses.

Please apply for this opportunity to receive more information from our team in China.

The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) is the Department for International Trade’s chosen partner in China to deliver trade services.

I've said it before in other posts but just to say again that when fund managers decide to sell a stock then they line up an MM and sell it into the market. They do not wait to see 'tomorrow's price' - which may just as well be lower as higher - especially when Mr Market learns that there is a lump of shares waiting to be off-loaded. And neither will fund managers sit around and wait for an RNS to hopefully boost the share price and sell into a rise. Who knows what might happen in the interim if they adopted that approach? And in any case the money may be needed quickly to fund another investment or payout to some other party. Or maybe its just a strategic re-alignment in line with the latest analyst's report on future investment conditions - as I understand it is with the Miton Microcap and was in the past for Lombard Odier as well. How else do you explain OD selling when the price was in the 20s - and do you think that Miton are going to look 'smart' in our eyes in a few months time?

Always remember that fund managers are playing (sorry, 'investing') other peoples money - unlike you or me who put our own hand into our own pocket. So no point looking for any 'alternative motives' as you won't find any in my experience.

DaveMac3 - do you remember when we bought IQE at around 3.5p back in 2009? See your post on the 'IQE -Turned a corner' thread post no. 12130 in response to mine. Whilst there is a long way to go here, the opportunities are even greater in my view because (a) the potential applications are far greater, and (b) VRS have got themselves in pole position with Nanene and 'Graphink'. Let's see if it pans out as correctly forecasted with IQE.

A good reminder about what NR said. In China, they work otherway, get supply and create demand in oppose to west.

DaveMac - NR covered this in a previous podcast. Usually supply follows demand, but the Chinese gov wants supply to drive demand. If you build it, they will come... ;-)

- from the hundreds of Chinese companies that are chomping at the bit to get their hands on genuine graphene for inclusion in their products - as already reported when the Jinan deal was announced -- based on Chinese government trade surveys not on hype.

I guess we need to find study which shows the phase we are IN reg. Graphene before total explosion. Or we can find a generic study showing some chart/graph about product/material adoption timeframe.

5G will be great for IQE as they are at the front of the queue (eg) supplying for the build, network can’t be used until. Also if you read up on how 5G works the number of components IQE will supply is multiples per base station :) Add in data centre and other fast growing sectors, IQE is a multi stranded beast.
