I did look at SOS, h. Because of Scott and his industrial experience. Also Share Prophets pumps SOS - without Scott's detail.
It's early stage, run by two fashion journalists and website put me off.
Done pretty well recently. I might well have been too pessimistic - although I am still not inspired.
However, it isn't a KOOV.

I had similar thoughts on prices, but not sure how that could be executed.

APAD, have you taken a look at SOS in the clothing space? Paul Scott seems very keen.

For FEVR holders who might be interested, although it's an extremely poor article.https://www.theguardian.com/business/shortcuts/2018/aug/08/posh-tonic-what-fever-trees-success-tells-us-about-late-capitalism

Don't really get your point epo tbh. Are you suggesting he should have hand built the rockets himself otherwise he can't claim credit? Anyway as APAD said originally, agree to disagree I guess.

Yeah. I guess they can get carried away with how clever they are.
Pushing the boundries until they get it wrong... good on them I say. i'm amazed with what some of these boundryless people come up with and do.

There is an interesting literature on 'innovation' - "The Myth of the Hero Innovator" is a paper on the subject.

Essentially, innovation is extremely common, but the most common outcome is failure.

We tend to think that the successful innovator has something special that we should seek to emulate, but really we should study innovation failures.

A successful innovator tends to think they can do it again and again, but the usual outcome is failure.

The best example is Clive Sinclair - post the calculator success he built an open three wheeler, powered by a washing machine engine, that positioned the driver's head at the level of a lorry hubcap.

i think he has a great imagination. and an imagination that thinks out of the box and then out of the planet is a pretty cool thing to watch.
cant make up my mind about him but loved his car in space publicity stunt :)

also if I owned tesla shares and his recent comments turned out to be a load of rubbish then that would more than get up my nose.

PayPal was in his sphere of competence and a terrific success.
Colonising Mars with self-landing rockets is Dan Dare nonsense.

If you think Musk designed those rockets himself then you could perhaps explain to us why he employs all those engineers and designers. He may wish to present himself as a real-life Tony Stark but it ain't true.

Brunel pushed the boundaries, H.
Musk is cobbling existing stuff together under a rainstorm of dollars.
Guess we'll agree to differ.

I think Musk is the new Brunel. An engineering genius but not a good businessman, exactly like Brunel as it happens.

SPX - expected a bit better reaction.
HILS - Mr. M punishing anything that stumbles.

FEVR weakness raining on my parade.

ABC FY next month is my next milestone.
Cash outflow from investing fell nicely at the interims. Looking for confirmation at FY.

Amazing length of time CNBC could talk about the Musk tweet. The power of celebrity is endlessly entertaining - Musk is a software nerd out of his depth, but flooded with self-belief.

I use Iweb and AJBell, happy enough with both though the former have botched a dividend payment in the past couple of weeks.

I use HL for my SIPP and I think the platform is good in terms of usability and the phone app is also good. I don't have any call to speak to anyone there much so can't comment on that aspect.

I agree that the pricing on deals is not so good though and is almost always worse than Iweb which I use for my ISA which does annoy me. I almost get the impression they are skimming off the top on each deal.

I don't always seem to get the keenest prices, although they claim a panel of 20 brokers.
Their response to simple admin questions appears to be a superficial 'take it or leave it' attitude, as if they do not care about customer service/satisfaction.
Too big for the little man, but keep taking the fees.

I also have an AJ Bell account, to my mind HL is some way ahead (AJB's website is comparatively 'clunky'). I imagine ex-Barclay Smart Investors are also quite happy, that is when they eventually get to use HL’s service!

What are there problems red; I have generally found them ok also? And they have got rid of the dealing password which was a pain when you wanted a very quick trade at open. And you get it cheaper than most I recall.
