Hydrus,

"I remember him not being interested in FEVR because it was far too expensive. Think it was about £2"

You might be interested to hear that Paul has bought some for his fantasy fund today at 1650p!

Buy a few PTSG instead, red. Same sector, but much less inertia.

GHH No very unhappy. I had resolved to add when the share price dipped into the £12.30's. Guess what - I chickened out!

Pretty much agree with that, h.
I like his candour when he gets things wrong too.

My buying in stages and exciting in stages policy has disadvantages, but it does allow me time to build up a picture.

We had a good discussion on PURP earlier if you missed it. I wouldn't go there at all.

Re Paul Scott and PVG he does make some valid points and I appreciate his accounting/retail analysis in general but his investment style seems pretty inconsistent at times.

I think he's in PURP which is currently attempting a US rollout and has a juicy valuation and he's also prone to 'back up the truck' on certain holdings only to reverse shortly after or to buy after profit warnings.

There was a very nice bowl forming until april. I assume the mkt didn't care for the company doling out more share options. Some good news would be welcome.

Not particularly recommending it, H. I do admire PS's honesty.

I had a look to see if the recent drop was a buying opportunity for me.

I decided that if I had the money available I would choose to buy more FFX - another bet on a new market and one I know much better.

I tend to reject most new investments, and am particularly wary of heavily posted small caps.

I really ought to top-slice FEVR (20+%), but every time I think about it I pour a fresh G&T and the feeling goes away.

Yes I saw that - some fair points from Scott but as usual his quick look at a company obviously doesn't enable him to identify potential outside of the immediate figures. I remember him not being interested in FEVR because it was far too expensive. Think it was about £2.

Paul Scott on PVG - "why take the risk? This looks a jam tomorrow share, i.e. loss-making for now, which may or may not succeed. How can I possibly gauge whether it's going to work or not? I don't have a crystal ball.

The key issue would be to find out what number of pet plans need to be secured in order to reach breakeven. Also, what is the attrition rate? If it's high, then the company might end up running to stand still. What are the competition offering, and how does that differ to this company? It would need a very thorough assessment of the business, to determine if it looks viable, or not. Personally, I can't be bothered, as there are easier & safer investment decisions elsewhere.

What worries me most, is that the company has entered (admittedly on a small scale) the US market, apparently without properly understanding it. That seems crazy to me. Good luck to the company, but it seems far too high risk for me to consider investing in it."

"Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc (LON:SPX) has earned an average rating of “Hold” from the eight brokerages that are presently covering the firm. Five investment analysts have rated the stock with a hold rating and three have given a buy rating to the company. The average twelve-month price target among brokerages that have issued a report on the stock in the last year is GBX 4,000 ($51.14)."

This way madness lies!

Excellent results from TUNE. EPS up 52%, high levels of cash generation, excellent ROCE and on a current year PE ratio of around 15. I topped up this morning.

RWS - price appears to be running away now; didn't fall as far as I hoped or expected - best I could have bought at was 338 for a short period in the last week.

Anyone invested or looked into TUNE? I have a holding and results out tomorrow. High quality business and looks very cheap to me.
