Got to imagine that with the press coverage today Dentyl will soon be flying off the shelves. You would assume that even a hint that it may be effective will tempt people to use it. What is there to lose?

Kenwrong - Thanks for posting the link to that interview with the Chief Commercial Officer. Very interesting. I note that Alan Green (Novus Communications) also interviewed CEO Jerry Randall after the Interim Results in Sept. I don't believe a link to that interview has been posted here previously.

It's well worth a listen by way of a reminder of where VLG stood just two months ago. Below is a transcript of the CEO's summary of key points to take away from the Interim Results, including a heavy hint to expect further earnings-accretive bolt-on acquistions funded from existing cash resources...

Alan Green (interviewer, Novus Communications): "Before we wrap up here, can you just provide some key take-away points for investors watching this?"

Jerry Randall (CEO, Venture Life): "Yes, I think most importantly I would say that the last 6-9 months have shown how resilient our business is. Not just in the products we have and the areas we sell, but in a multi-channel approach to both our sales and marketing and to a quick, adaptable workforce who are able to deal with the demands and pressures of that pandemic. And we have shown that our growth in revenues, that particularly strong growth, is not just a bounce from Covid but is actually strong underlying growth within our business and we think the Covid effect is relatively small.

We're cash generative. We've generated cash in the first half. We'll continue to generate cash in the second half. We'll finish the second half of the year in a good net cash position. And that sets us up well for making further acquisitions and we continue to review some good bolt-on acquisitions, and I think the current environment brings good opporunities for that. So we'd expect, using our current resources, not requring an equity raise, to be able to complete some of those and that will add more cash generation and profitability to the bottom line. So that operating leverage that we have in the business, we've got significant capacity now. We're investing heavily in the plant this year. We'll have over 40% capacity still at the end of the year so those acquisitions that we hope to make will come into the plant, generate more profitability and revenues and those levels of profit will accelerate faster than our revenue growth."

Have sold the trading shares I bought in the 90's hoping for quick bounce, after which it went into the 80's. Kept the rest and will add more again if we get another irrational (IMHO) fall.

Is this news and the 15 year Chinese deal likely to make VLG a takeover target?

If there is such great long term value, the Dentyl brand could become quite lucrative for the likes of a GSK, Unilever or JJ.

Good news for the Chinese sales in particular as the Chinese now seem to be taking adequate measures to keep Covid under control unlike the West. Today's news will in their view help strengthen those preventative measures in the context of the existing Dentyl sales which may now increase going forwards if this news is publicised in China.

Potentially effective against many virus types depending on how they themselves are constructed. Like the active components in soapy water can destroy the vaccine outer layer, the mouthwash will have a similar way of working.

Must say I liked the idea of a nasal spray - although it could be like taking vicks a bit unpleasant.

Experiments in people are much harder in the laboratory so the result largely depends on the design of the study.....if it is swap, rinse swab swab swab swab over several time periods then you would expect the effectiveness to be good and fall away over time which will inform how to reduce viral load over time and reduce transmission.

Probably good for those told to isolate after a positive contact
These products are habit forming....so once you use it daily for a month you will probably keep using it.

Also there should be a decent margin on this product, unlike hand wash which may have v low margins as many producers were able to switch to it.

thanks mate, much appreciated.

so 2-3 months time for mouthwash.... wonder if it will help all COVID type diseases, or could then be taken on to battle flu?

@QS99

"... Expect results from the human (in-vivo) clinical study to be published in early 2021. The outcome of that study has potential to have a significant positive impact on sales of Venture’s mouthwashes, a factor not reflected in current earnings forecasts.

For the 2021 financial year, analyst Chris Donnellan at Cenkos expects Venture to deliver pre-tax profit of £4.6m on sales of £33.3m to produce adjusted EPS of 5.65p based on 14 per cent earnings growth..."
