Quite possibly Red. But they weren't saying we wouldn't have the tech at hand to leave earths orbit 50 years later that's for sure.

indeed....no miracle cure, but the potential is there and it may produce stimulus to buying the product, i.e. in China IMO....DYOR

BOO can buy SOS if they want but I doubt they will.
You never know tho. 25m might snap them.
Repeat that 15x and they could dominate the whole sphere.

A disappointingly muted response from the market to our new miracle cure.

APAD you must be up for the year now? We've probably got similar results but I've been chopping and changing quite a lot. You've shown great conviction well done. Has it aged you though?!

Good to debate the details, Hydrus, too easy to swap generalities.

You chaps are probably right - many will be desperate to return to offices and some bosses will want that. I guess home working will increase but hard to know the extent. It's probably a case of a trend accelerating but not a full blown permanent change for everyone. Futurologists always over estimate change. Many things stay the same for longer than expected.APAD we do tend to agree but don't realise it at first ;)

Yeah, I'm not expecting BOO to buy SOS either.
Try an crush them, yes lol.

I'm hoping the lady's have kept SOS going well during the lock down.
Sos could emerge stronger in relation to the retail competition - That's the hope anyway.
And preserved a decent amount of cash due to suspending advertising.

twitter is now going to allow employees to work from home from now on.

It might work for certain industries and for some jobs, but that needs a lot of thought and planning.

It is very probable that a lot of international travel has been based on vanity rather than substance. If it costs x5 for airfares, that will stretch the budget where there are lots of trips involved. If video conferencing works, then trips will be pruned heavily. When the budget is savaged, it will be a choice of key meetings at key times only.

I agree with you about TEAMS, Hydrus. I guess we are talking about cross purposes (I believe we've done that before).
MSFT owns the commercial world (the equivalent of 'nobody lost their job buying IBM). There is plenty of competition (wouldn't have minded buying Zoom a year ago!) but it can't get into the world of work. Goodness, even Apple can't break into the world of work.

My point is simply that this is a description of the present, and that the present has been going for quite a while.

Hoover, might be a name synonymous with vacuum cleaner, but that doesn't make them any money these days. Have you seen the price of a Miele 😊

A fat old git on CNBC saying MSFT is overpriced would raise a storm!

Well done on CPC, H. FWIW I think all those London commuters will be desperate to get back to work and away from home. There's me being contrarian again! I am definitely looking for a bottom on CPC and will increase significantly.

I wonder if the share price increase in SOS is a hope that BOO will bid for it. Fat chance!

Red, disappointed you didn't make a 4% turn on RDSB today 😊

tlst. I don't want to initiate a discussion on AFN as I am out of date. I bought some about 8 years ago and kept them for less than a year whilst researching. Haven't looked at them since. DYOR.

Not everyone likes to work from home. Mostly when I meet people working from home they seem pretty miserable to be honest.
Obviously, companies will consider the bottom line first but just sending emails back and forth from the spare room amongst old jigsaw puzzles won't float everyone's boat long term.

The virtual meeting is an interesting topic.

There is more than one argument.
Necessity for feet on the ground for management control.
How much value and effectiveness is derived from face to face contact vs remote chats?
Time/cost savings as a result of not having to travel, especially in the new world of reduced profitability.
The culture and egos of travel by Mr & Mrs Big Shot.

The grey suits, who aren't involved in the bun fights of travel will push for it. The fall out from covid is the best opportunity to break the mould.

I'm starting to think the extreme volatility we've seen for the last 3 years is going to be the norm from now on.

CPC I bought at 53p and sold at 84p. Nice slice of luck tbh. It's a quality outfit and will be ok longer term, assuming this virus gets dealt with properly at some point. What's going to happen to central London? Will it become a bit of a waste land if demand for offices say drops by 50%?

CPC

Better bet that the bloated big pub chains, but they still have the major structural problems of the broken market.
