The ex-dividend date or "ex-date" is usually one business day before the record date.

Investors who purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after will not receive the next dividend payment

I always thought ex-div was the day the share didn't qualify for a dividend, which would be today.

Surely you mean ex dividend yesterday? That would be my thinking.

Why has this fallen by 2.2% today but the FTSE100 only by 0.4%?

Is it ex-dividend?

The assets behind the ETF should be in a segregated account with a separate custodian (like a mutual fund) so if the company managing it goes bust your money should be safe, absent fraud. There may be an issue if the ETF is synthetic and the counterparty is a member company of the manager that also goes bust, but both Vanguard and iShares FTSE 100 are full replication (ie they hold all the underlying shares and not derivatives). Plus Vanguard and Blackrock (iShares) are 2 of the biggest fund managers in the world so bankruptcy is unlikely. Whilst you can never say your money is completely safe whatever you invest in, in my view the risk here is minimal.

Cheers. Also do you know what happens to the fund if the company that manages it goes bust? Is it all protected or just the 50000 stipulated by the fca for approved companies?Does it pay their bills or is my money completely safe? Thanks all

0.09% is the cost charged by Vanguard to operate the ETF. Brokers and online platforms have separate charges to buy/sell the ETF, and an annual charge (Barclays is I believe GBP6 to buy/sell, and 0.1% p/a to hold ETFs, 0.2% funds with a GBP48 minimum). others like iweb are cheaper if you are a small shareholder or deal infrequently.
Both Vanguard and iShares are basically the same in cost and operation.

Is the management charge the same for all brokers? My Barclays says it's no fee but others say 0.09%Which ftse100 is better? Ishares or vanguard? Thanks for all opinions;)

I am. Vanguard funds/etf's are cheap and reliable, with dividends paid promptly so whats not to like. plus the FTSE 100 itself is around 20% undervalued relative to history against S&P 500, European stcks etc.
