Sarawak, I suppose that’s the big take from the Malcy feature, recent visit to sarawak by Steve, which we knew about, results in potentially large deal being completed. That, and Malcys apparent holding of Steve in high regard

Upland Resources
I met with Dr Steve Staley, CEO of Upland Resources last week as I had spoken to him after the Wick farm-in and found the company strategy of considerable interest. He is a really inspiring industry veteran, if I may say so, and he and his team are oozing with experience from Cove and also North African experience plus elsewhere. The strategy is to take material stakes in oil and gas plays which display characteristics of attractive risk. They have a huge bank of technical expertise and a broad industry experience available to them.

So, they have taken a 40% stake in the Wick well where of course Corralian (40%) and vicariously Reabold through its stake in the company are involved. They are paying 53.33% of the well costs with a cap and it will drill in September and Steve is confident that there is a serious opportunity here.

Elsewhere, the company has recently announced its entrance into Tunisia, another area where the team has significant expertise and taken a huge licence (4004km²) at the Saouf permit where existing but old gas discoveries indicate that the possibility for further profitable finds might be made. These are potentially profitable as pipelines both big and small criss-cross the permit enabling local and international sales.

The company also has an interest developing in Sarawak, Malaysia where plans for greater independence have not changed after recent elections. Working with the Brooke Dockyard and Engineering works mean that a recent visit to the country led to a potentially large deal being completed. Finally they have an onshore UK licence in the East Midlands.

The company raised £3m at 2.5p back in June and has access to substantial funding where necessary giving me confidence in the ability to progress any of the above assets should moulah be required. Overall a very interesting meeting with Steve who is clearly a top industry executive.

Cash - they should be generating about circa $350m+/yr revenues come September when M deal closes though effective date is 1/1/18.
At £160m m/cap the assets are capable of £1b+ from 2P,2C and lower risk exploration but will add more assets from cashflow. What they have they say will deliver $1b of net cash over next 6 years (Page 15 of their August webcast). They have picked up some cheap assets as majors re position themselves. They are in energy hungry markets and given what they've been able to pick up it's not unreasonable that UPL could pick something similar up in Sarawak in terms of production or very close to production for little capital via Brooke.

CPR for the JSE 2P asset value on just some of their projects is $564m/£420m with 3P at $915m/£650m (page 16) so a decent valuation gap which got the oversubscribed placing away and more deals to come.

Zengas,

Noticed them, they look a bit like DGO. They intend to pay a divi at some point.

Re COS for Wick - It's not a bad target/COS at all given proximity to Lybster. A bit further out but given there's a discovery on the Tunisian block and now a different era for gas, it could be even better COS than Wick. Sarawak still being the dark horse.

I'm holding Savannah Petroleum as long as UPL which have both been slow burners and Savp just started their exploration campaign beginning of April and they have drilled 4 exploration prospects in a row with a 100% success rate so far. COS was 80% in some targets and drilling for up to 2.8 billion bls risked recoverable though this sweet spot they reckoned over 90% for exploration.

If anyone is running a group of Oil/Gas stocks rather than just 1-2 holdings, another very good opportunity with significant production/reserves just listed a week ago is Jadestone Energy and worth keeping a very close eye on. Capable and highly respected CEO took 2 Talisman divisions in his career and replicated multi billion valuations on both. Back into Talisman asset territory now with JSE and with a lot of ex Talisman people. Received OBE for services to Oil/Gas industry from the Queen. Institutions hold circa 66% of stock above the 3% level and just got an oversubscribed $110m placing away at 35p.

I think its a huge thumbs up from SS re Wick, but its an exploration target thus we cannot conclude its a success until the drillbit confirms it as such. At almost approx. 40% CoS, it is better than your average exploration target.

Divmad.......although to listen to Dr.s Wick IS a done deal...he talks of success at Wick in the past tense...he avoids a % CoS but rates the CoS as "good...very good...relative to the reward thats on offer...otherwise we wouldn't be there"

...read into that what you will...you pays your money and you takes your chance.

WICK Seismics must be very good.. Not long to wait then Tunisia - Gas UP....

(Do not forget Batman is on the case with his 'bat seismics' as well). :)

Come on Malcy spread the news...
Even Oil industry experts that I have spoken to, seem to like the UPL 'script and caste'.

All you need is patience which provides PROFIT.....

doughty, what do you mean, Wick is a done deal? Ok, they are contracted to drill it, but the rather more important question is, will it flow commercially? What's the COS again? Done deal? Ask Mr Market the day after the rns comes out with equivocation, IF this is the case.

Let's hope so but fundamentally this is a political issue and not a business one. I think we may get encouraging news along the way but the only urgency will occur if money stops flowing. Just my gut feeling and I hope I'm proved wrong.

Both Petros & Petronas cannot afford to let it drag on indefinitely. The fact they are talking to each other means they are willing to sort it out ASAP.I think they will get it sorted much quicker than people are anticipating.AIMHOhTTp://www.theborneopost.com/2018/08/14/every-sarawakian-needs-to-be-concerned-about-og-issue/

michaelwight,

Agree, soon as you move away from Europe/ North-America, risk levels & bureaucracy increase significantly. The fact is, UPL have 3-4 projects of which one is about to go into a period of field activity and we should receive a bit more detail on the second. Sarawak is wip and will take time to come through.

...we have plenty in our pipe to smoke !

...Sarawak can wait...if it's the right outcome !

...and lets not forget "left field" news from Morocco can land at any minute !

I am totally happy to watch and wait for this to play out over the next few months

Not knocking the potential at all but I think Sarawak will be further down the line. Devolution has to be relatively slow and progressive. Looking forward to some news on Wick and agree Tunisia could be huge. GLA.

Wick is a done deal

Tunisia is a done deal

The Sarawak skeleton lacks flesh and is very blurry at the moment. But if you listen to the rhetoric from Dr.S it is all very positive. There clearly is an impasse in Sarawak at the moment with no clear mechanism in place for awarding the new licences following the ripping up of the old rule book...the new rule book is not quite in place yet. The impasse cannot last forever...am sure that patience will be rewarded...we are the kid in the locked sweet shop...right time....right place.

And Dr.S was upbeat on Hardstoft too in last vox-cast..."we HAVE four things"...HAVE+FOUR...all in the affirmative !

Good morning all, as Dan says, it is time for the PR to get to work and put this little beauty on the radar. I have not caught up with all that has been said, during my long weekends RR but was there any news/feedback from the meeting with the guy from VOX?

What a recommendation. Even Bruce Wayne is now investing.
He must be using his 'Bat Seismics' and knows a good thing is coming.
Didn't his butler also have 'canny' Scottish family links?

Come on UPL, where are your publicity gurus.

It must be all about to happen at WICK.

Keeping an eye open for 'tweety news leaks' next...
