Nice reversal here since the pre Xmas low, Hein has set out his strategy and the company has started to divest/invest to build the portfolio out to grow from..

When you deduct indian subsidiary $40B odd rest of business valued at PE 8 or less, odd considering strength of brands some of the best around. Lifebuoy, Dove, Axe, Hellmans

Alotto, calls by Ukrainian campaigners according to the article. Which goes on to remind us that Unilever said one reason for staying was to protect its workers but then admitted they were being conscripted into the invading Russian army. I am less certain than you of a stalemate, deployment of sufficient AirPower either side may yet tip the balance. I suspect Russia has a weaker hand than it wishes to reveal.

Unilever rightfully stayed in Russia. All the companies that left Russia just gave away their market share in Russia to other enterprises, which paid taxes to the Russian government anyway.
It's not down to individual companies to determine the allaged wrong doing of governments. As Donald Trump once said in one of his interviews, referring to the US gov, "Do you think our government is so innocent?"
The war in a Ukraine will rage on, not until one or the other side is defeated, but until the military industry is satisfied with their earnings. Then a peace agreement will be signed.

Should that happen, the worst case scenario would be a full loss, Unilever's annual accounts show that the Russian business remains a profit-maker for the group – last year it contributed to 1.4% of the company's turnover and 2% of the groups net profit. As of 31 December 2022, Unilever held approximately EUR900M of assets there..

Considering the size/scale of Russian assets contributions, IF it happens it could easily be offset by growth in our other footprint of operations..

I don't see the acquisition fitting in the strategy to focus on the top brands to drive growth.
The product is very expensive and addresses a public where Unilever does not operate.
The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed.

Good find unastubbs. Path to Growth, Compass, Growth Action Plan...Fitzgerald, Cescau, Polman etc...the fundamental issue is that Unilever keeps thinking these top down plans will be different every time...it's just rebranding, but with a dwindling pool of talent and an increasingly homogeneous product portfolio...

ULVR is a buy and keep for life stock, happy to hold it, supertankers take a long time to turn around, see what Hein does on the controls.. :o)

Volumes were only down marginally at Q3 2024 good considering 10%+ price rises. Better than peers. Now inflation down, can now discount to win market share, doing well in India, China & USA Only negative area Europe has been for many years.
