The cure for low.prices is? Low prices.

Amazingly so many don't understand this and reach for some conspiracy toexplain rapid falls/rapid rises in POO!

03 April

Les Wood, Chief Financial Officer, commented today:

Nevertheless, strengthening the balance sheet continues to be a key priority with the Group seeking to raise proceeds in excess of $1 billion through portfolio management.

There are these "Gurus" here who are able to predict every move..
They will tell you that unless you are "In out, in out and shaking it all about" that you are doing it wrong.

The information is there.. Just see it..
If Les Wood makes a statement like this and doesn't deliver then he is firewood.
The update on 3rd April contained masses of information. To see us languishing still at sub £1.00 is confirmation that all the news really did not sink in and people are either scared of what they read, or external forces are at work.
I prefer to believe that its a mixture of nervousness, capital tied up elsewhere, and hesitation.
How many looked in and said Damn.... I wanted to buy at 9p but didn't?

An awful lot I would guess.
Will those same people be looking at TLW at 50p and say.. "Damn I wanted to but at 30p" and so on and so on...

Of course there will be a deal in Uganda. This is just an opinion, but an onshore project with an approx $25 per barrel operating cost and 1.2 Bn barrels ? Fully appraised ready to go on decent fiscal terms ! Does anyone seriously think the Chinese will walk away from this one ? Or that Total will allow them to buy Tullow's stake and get operatorship of the field ?
Even if these companies have no appetite for the $10bn capital project in the current operating environment they will not want to walk away from this asset and take the impairments nor will they want to lose the NPV value attributable to the licence. The current oil price is just the stick they needed to beat Museveni into submission.
All the geniuses who thought the RBL would not be renewed are now telling you that a deal will never be done. I strongly disagree...even through the whole Ugandan saga has been a nightmare.....sounds like it has finally been resolved. As for the analysts, most attribute negligible value to the asset but allow $1.5bn for Tullows future cash contributions.

The oil industry will always return to an operating break even at some stage. Even if it takes 3 years you do not walk away in my view, from long life reserves. If the capital project is sanctioned, it will be coming on stream after all this mess is over.

I could be completely wrong, but at 27p ....what’s my downside ?

UG business.comThis website could not immediately establish the exact details of the new deal, but insiders say the finer details are being ironed out and the deal will be announced soon, most likely after the coronavirus outbreak clears.
