I wasn't talking just about the UK .It's PURE politics. The reality is we're ready to recommence 'normal service' alas envy pride anger over Brexit and the culture differences ALL play a part in this fiasco..Get over it and get on with the business of living not anticipating dying and despair

Yesterday the European Parliament officially approved the EU Digital Travel Certificate, which allows free movement throughout the EU without further restrictions. Good news for EU travel. Good news for TUI.

I agree with you, and Minky, on the politics side of things. The UK govt has been less than reliable and quite cynical in its approach. If I were to also be cynical, I would say that UK travel restrictions will be lifted as and when MPs themselves are ready to go on overseas holidays.
The business point I was making, however, is that TUI is not singularly reliable on the UK market. It has a great share of and is a very popular travel company within the EU market, which is now up and running, with great optimism. I therefore do not agree that TUIs future is in doubt.

Several weeks ago our Government allowed milions of travellers to come to UK from red listed countries and since then we have seen a rise in the numbers of people catching covid. Some of the holiday destinations have fewer cases than us and will welcome holidaymakers from the UK. At the same time with increasing numbers of Indian variant the Govt is allowing people to move around the UK. The Govt has set back the re-start of the travel sector by many weeks

I believe this is political as the Govt do not want people spending their money on overseas trips but force them to holiday at home with restrictions such as quarantine, PCR tests and and changes to lists requiring people to come home early at increased flying cost. This affects peoples confidence to book and the Govt know what influence they can impart. Common sense should allow people with 2 vaccinations to fly to safe destinations without any restrictions unless they catch covid whilst abroad.

Completely disagree with your UK-only perspective. There are around 450 million people in EU, EU countries are already open for tourism and people are booking, travelling and holidaying every day. Great business for TUI. Seems you have overlooked that.

I'm out and staying until more info is shared by the GOV . I genuinely believe this summer is lost . That's not disputed even by Airlines but they'll come back strongly next year IF..... They're backed financially by their Government ( German)

It is ironic that a highly-vaccinated (UK) population is not allowed to travel, while lesser-vaccinated nations can travel and are welcoming foreign tourists.

The system is already there with the NHS app ( not the covid check in one ) shows both of my jabs and has qr code for scanning

That would suggest a greater than 5 percent drop from here. I do not see it at this point in time - there is no meaningful reason for that to happen.

Nonsense. Brits may not yet be travelling en masse, but Europeans are. EU countries are open, vaccinations are on schedule, EU travel certificate is live and EU travel bookings are up.
