The lockdown helps to solve a single problem, covid19.
But it creates many others.
Patients are not being treated effectively for other serious illnesses.

And lockdown is unhealthy, especially in the winter.
Too much sitting down and eating.
Most put on weight, many are bored and depressed.

Boris and his Covid professors are solving just one problem , their problem, that is their mandate.

..but another Covid wave in the autumn would be a disaster.
Makes us think twice about investing in recovery shares.
Maybe it is better to hand on a while longer.

UK deaths down to 33. A colossal drop of near 98% from the peak.
Israeli deaths down to 3 in the past 24hrs.
UK vaccinated close to a million yesterday; USA vaccinated a record 3.1 million yesterday.

The vaccines are highly effective; Europe needs to step up.

Sorry Boris but with figures like these you will need to open up sooner rather than later.

2,000 Britons die DAILY from NON-Covid illnesses
33 Vs 2,000 deaths from cancer, heart disease, stroke, asthma, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis

Covid patients at 4,500 beds are taking up 3% of total NHS beds. YES THREE PERCENT!

No justification for such a harsh lockdown and total obliteration of sectors like travel and hospitality

Anti-lockdown protests yesterday in at least London, Croatia, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Belgium and Austria. All I hear in the news reports is the equivalent of 'stick it to the man!'.

Europe are paying for their slow vaccination programmes and unnecessary suspensions.
Most of Europe hitting 20C this week
US states hitting 30C
Warm and sunny.
Can only help.

I agree. It's non-news again.Just look at the stats for UK foreign holiday destinations. https://www.statista.com/statistics/578815/most-visited-countries-united-kingdom-uk-residents/France and Italy are a little concerning but then the lockdowns in these countries are for weeks not months. It just gives the city (and us longs) another chance to load up on these panic dips, while getting the shorters all excited (poor things)

3.1 Million vaccines given in the US in the past 24hrs. Wow!
121.4 Million total
Deaths, admissions, cases all down significantly; deaths down 30% week on week alone
Israel now seeing just single digit deaths per day
UK <100 also

Anti lockdown protests and clamour for re-opening will only increase here as the weather warms up, which it is already and we are only in March!!

Once bitten seems like another Brexit self harming knuckle dragger, you must be enjoying your “ brexit dividend “, trashed currency, a stock market at 1999 levels and the city of london losing biz by the day to amsterdam and Frankfurt, pity scumbags like you at the bottom of the food chain are allowed to vote and drag the rest of us into the sewer with you, U.K. is Fxxked.

There wont be a holiday season in europe this year, get real, these are toast as are easyjet and jet2 both with stressed balance sheets. Iag will survive by being nationalised as its a flag carrier and strategically important but share and bond holders will be wiped out, Lufthansa and Air France already pretty much state owned now, loads of this stuff is just capital destructive rubbish, like most of the shares on the ftse 350, stick to investing in the S&P and lean towards tech, this stuff is doomed. Get out with something while you can.

From our Director of Public Health today 19th March 2021 - direct quote:

Once a person has been vaccinated it does not stop them from being infected with Covid or transmitting Covid, it just stops them from being so seriously sick.

Having the vaccine is just to make it easier to control the virus within the population.

That's not right. There is not enough data to be certain about those who have been vaccinated spreading it. That's not the same as saying that they do spread it

After having the vaccine too many people seem to be under the impression that they are now immune to Covid, not able to catch the virus any more and therefore not able to transmit Covid to other people when in fact the vaccine does not stop a person from contracting Covid, does not stop that person from transmitting the Coivd to other people, all it does it to make 80% of the people who've had the vaccine less sick then if they had not had the vaccine in the first place.

When it comes to Covid - how's the Bristol variant going? Have many people have heard of the Bristol variant???

3 days ago a new Brittany variant was found which apparently can not be detected by the standard swab tests, only by blood tests. Bang goes the traveling with a negative swap test.

South Africa stop using the AstraZeneca vaccine as they say it's efficacy against the South African strain is far too low to do any real good.Even Pfizer say their vaccine is 8.5 fold less effective against the South African variant compared to the Kent variant.

What I can see happening is, if hoards of tourist travel to the Costa's this summer, as like last year in September people will be saying Covid is all but over then by Christmas we'll be back to were we were a year earlier. While at the same time the Asia economies will be powering ahead as their people will be going about their business wearing masks as they have been doing for the past year which Westerners seem so dead set against.

All the European leaders should be seen to have the vaccine. They really are in a mess, bunch of incompetents.

Europe needs to accelerate their vaccine program, introduce the vaccine passport and stop trying to pick fights with the UK. Nose / Face comes to mind. How petty. All IMHO
