@arja you think that holidays are oneway? Visitors to the UK now have an additional £1700 and ten day stay at the pleasure of Her Majesty's Government. I do think sub 300 in less than 7 days though.

Covid numbers improving massively.
Things could look much better in 1 months time.

I get the impression that politicians are having one big last push before easing restrictions.

Hospitalisations,vaccinations, infections falling rapidly.

I notice the short positions have increased. If they get their teeth into this it could be carnage.

I think that this may be part of 'Britain's great wealth revival' advertised above. Having my jab this week, but even so, I'm not allowed to fly anywhere.

Staying in here.
Another punt on things returning to near normal.
If Covid and lockdowns continue for 2 more years there is no hope of survival.
A quick return will result in big gains here.

The question you ask is.
'Do you feel lucky'
...well do you punk?

Just the 7 billion euro net debt now (up 2 billion euro from last time) and revenue down 88 percent for the period. No doubt the shares will rise then as 2021 bookings are going well...the big debt payoff is now next year...just kicking the can down the road really until it becomes obvious they won't have the funds to pay it.

Even our bungling politicians are getting up to speed on how to live with the virus.
Vaccines, the ability to treat ill patients, and testing are changing the game.

But I would guess that this lockdown will be the last after vaccination is complete.
Routine testing for Covid (even sniffer dogs can detect it with 94% accuracy)will mean that life will go on as normal.

The real secret will be testing for Covid, it will be routine and accurate.
You will be able to travel where you wish provided you are Covid free and vaccinated.

Not meeting requirements will be like not having a passport.

It will become routine, a sort of medical.

Hospitals treating viruses will be totally separate from those treating all other serious illnesses.
A sort of leper colony.

I would agree with you Pander that's a long road back, but I think that road will start this summer.

Casholaa - the AZN vax is effective against the UK strain and Kent variant. Its cheap and easily modified -which is what the world needs right now. But it's not the only one with J&J and Novavax now joining the party. While there may be more roadbumps ahead its clear to me that the huge scientific might thrown at this will win the battle.

Got to say, if TUI gets through this, and I think they will, the amount of adversity it's faced in the last couple of years is insane. 737 Max, Brexit, and now a pandemic!

Agree, if this survives it will take 10 years to recover, possibly longer. With such a thin margin based business, depending on volume I see trouble ahead. This covid disruption is not going to just evaporate overnight.....

Is it correct that there are going to be 33 countries on a list from 15th Feb from which the UK may compel people entering the UK to isolate in a hotel for 10 nights and pay around 1100 euro for the priviliege?

Also, I've not read anything independently optimistic about the cheaper British vaccine. My family and extended family members were all given the cheaper British vaccine. The Pfizer one is reported to work on the variant. The politicians were likely guided by cost.
