@once bitten - each time there is a person infected, the probability of a variant arising increases. They haven't yet said whether the virus mutates upon a person being infected or later as the immune system starts fighting it off. It is also possible to be vaccinated and to spread the virus. I think it's too early to know what the effect of vaccinations will be, you only need to look back at all news reports since March last year to see that the only detailed certain event that reduces infections is strict lockdown.

Anybody else see a bit of political friction between countries, and possibly the EU, wanting to get the tourists back asap? I can see Useless Von Der Leyen stamping her feet saying Nein, nobody can travel, Brits are dirty, blah blah etc. And the relative tourism Ministers saying suns out, bars are open, welcome back Mr Blighty.

Convince other countries to let us in? We'll soon have the lowest Covid rates in Europe. And I'm not sure how the economies of Spain, Greece etc are going to survive another winter without a full summer season of British tourism pound propping them up!

When those gates will open, millions of clean(ish!,)thirsty Brits will be jumping on planes again. Not only will they let us in, they'll probably have bands playing and firework displays too :)

Everyone has an opinion. I respect yours but don't agree. WE might be OK butt we have to convince other Countries that they have to let us in .. AND await their poor response re. Vaccination. Of course I'm not referring to our EX EU Partners that will naturally bend over backs to help us achieve our early desires ... Noooot!!!I voted in.. How wrong I was ..

Dream on......there won't be enough flights and holidays to satisfy demand.

After a year missed and a year inside for many it's going to explode...💥🚀

Once bitten1.....I hope all the airline/travel industry, realises that they had better not take their customers/suckers for granted if they survive this pandemic. They will be scrutinised more than ever now by holiday makers.

It will be tough,if/when things pick up the travel companies will need to be competitive. They have done themselves no favours with refunds.

I firmly believe this will have dalliance in the Mid 200's for a while . Until or if the Market is allowed to meaningfully trade . Cross border approval is the next big hurdle until then EXTREMELY concerned at TUI's future ...It's Capital burn is obscene!!!

2022 for me and even then I will unsure wether it will happen,it will be Crete but I have not booked yet,the usual hotel I use has this summer plenty of vacancies,it would normally be no chance fully booked so to me that means people are not booking yet.Even though this particular hotel lets you cancel a week before with no penalties.

Weekend figures are always out of kilt but in any event I would be surprised if cases are not going down with the lockdown and jabs.

I've taken the cheap shares on the rights issue and I'm pleased I did. Both from the short term immediate boost and the long haul too. I don't think anybody is fooling themselves here to think that TUI will be profitable overnight and start paying back debt. But it'll happen. You think all those European leaders are just going to lockdown forever and watch their GDPs slashed as millions of employees and businesses collapse? Don't think so. Seen figures that say hospitality & tourism is the third largest socio-economic activity in Europe. All that going to just disappear?? Course not. TUI is a big fish with big backers, it'll be fine. The end is in sight and the Brits are leading the charge on the vaccine front. Had covid and also 1st dose of pfizer. And when those gates open the Brits will lead the charge on the holiday front too. It's just what we do :)
