Buying into travel companies at the moment makes me think of the Bob Newhart sir Walter Raleigh sketch on you tube.

danB45,
It is to do with what the ex rights price would be or used to work like that years ago I recall . It is why sometimes trading the NIL PAID could be profitable because of leverage but needed strong nerves

Read back through the posts over the weekend. There's no point comparing with Thomas cook either because this is down because of COVID. It's otherwise a great company.

With the greatest of respect would you kindly share your rationale to the road of recovery. Because I'm at a loss as to how you're so sure TUI are viable under their current financial handicap and the gloomy economic outlook

V true . This is pure gambling now . The FACTS . TUI is broke . Last chance saloon whilst hoping for an unknown/ unquantifiable improvement. It's like placing a bet on 29 black with table that's not working yet

The new infection cases are definitely levelling off now , today's death figure is half what the last couple of days has been although we all know weekend figures can sometimes lag

Todays Sunday Times
A small piece about how the Chinese suspect that the virus could be transmitted through frozen foods.

There are so many fears going forward.
One is that the transmission its not as thought and is something much different. The scare recently about mink, animals to humans is an example.
Then there is the possibility that the vaccines will not work on these ever changing viruses.

All this hygiene discipline, yet with so many people who have so many damned dogs fouling up the whole countryside with the excrement.
I hope there is not yet another transmission route.
Then there is shared toilet facilities.

Plagues in times gone by have been transmitted by bad water, rats and even birds.
Discovered much later. In remote country villages the death rate was as high as the inner City squalor slums. Birds.

The authorities have to do their best not to panic us, but they must be worried.

I was a bit surprised that TUI was able to get new funding as presumably it is technically insolvent. But I do not follow it as closely as others on this thread

Looking at the vaccination target chart (which is accelerating much faster than I expected) they're already on course for an early win. EARLY.The daily case chart shows we'll get back to mid-November levels in just two weeks. R number already below 1 (the most important metric...)So considering the actual data, all this cr@p about "long, long long way off" is just to scare people into compliance. The data is all there at your finger tips. But it's working and the shorters are lapping it up.Much like the big brexit bluff... bring out the gun ships get those naughty fishermen! yeah right Boris!.. "no deal" was never on the cards.
