ABCs for online Aug just out. A flat month generally, Mirror Group down 2pc for the month and up 32pc for the year. A little better than the other heavies, Mail -4pc and +20pc, Guardian -6pc and +29pc, Telegraph -3pc and +24pc

Gfrae, I agree no share issue as to buy 60% ( 21% swap for assets and already own 20%) will cost about £120 million against about £110 million in bank now. I look forward to some big short covering, this stock is so thin, and if we also get some moderately good news on hacking........

I presume that Odey will cover their shorts if this deal goes through as I understand that this position was a hedge against his long position in Local World.
I am sure TNI will be paying with cash not paper.

According to my not very skilled attempt at analysis the proposed purchase on the terms outlined by the Sunday Times will improve earnings per share and free cash flow by a very healthy amount.Assuming 80% of profit after tax and after interest income foregone is £27 million, the eps will rise from 31.0p to 41.5p and free cash flow after pension payment will increase from £44 million to £71million?If the p/e stays the same the share price rises to £1.87, and if the cash flow p/e stays the same the share price increases to £2.26.Given the non existent supply of shares in the market at the moment I think the price could move rather rapidly.

I know everybody will have other priorities right now but I have been reveiwing the Online ABC unique viewers in detail, they show some extremely interesting trends in Trinity's performance.
At the agm Simon Fox told me that they had just upgraded their websites to make them fully mobile attractive, something their competitors were unable to do as effectively because of design flaws.
I have therefore compared the performance for the last four months of The Trinity websites to see how they measure against their competition.
The Trinity Group [which includes all except the smallest sites] has increased at an annual rate of 68% in the four months.
The Mirror Nationals [mainly the Mirror] has increased 33%pa.
The Mirror Regionals,[mainly the big Regional cities excluding London} have increased 146%p.a.
The largest Regional [Manchester] has increased 235% and its daily visitors now equal the Sun's at over 700,000.
Needless to say these figures, except the Mirror are by far the leaders in growth, whilst the Mirror is still ahead though marginally of the other majors.
This level of penetration will be making the ad sales team drool!

Online July ABCs just out. Trinity continues to grow, Group monthly uniques now 107 million and page impressions now 682 million. Growth especially good in the regional sites, Manchester Evening News has over 700,000 daily visitors, twelve times its newspaper circulation.

Hi all,

Per late Friday RNS, FD (since 2003) Vijay Vaghela disposes of the thick end of 1 million LTIP TNI shares @155.8p, keeping 50,000.

Netted about £ 500K after tax and NI.

May account for share price drop.

Maybe he's getting divorced/buying a house/financing a wedding....?

Or just doesn't want to have too many eggs in one basket.

These high turnover figures are most encouraging. I wonder if Mr. Odey is involved?

What is Mr. Odey up to, last week he shorted 150,000? Based on his track record usually that is a good sign!

Still on PE at 4 only! Printing to last for many more years and digital expanding, very undervalued.

yep massive question indeed, I'm yet to be shown any potential breakthrough. Technology has moved at too faster pace, too much money went into online after the 08 crash, many jobs have been cut for online and centralisation. If it fails, many newspapers will fail. The online experiment has been the downfall of newspapers. The only way imo to generate online revenue is to charge for online. Digital adverts simply are not making the money and turn users off. I read I newspaper by the way. The Dail Mail is extremly dated with its content and thinks we want to read about rich people when in reality the new generation don't see how they can be rich like people in their articles.

ABC's out for June. Daily uniques up slightly to 6,082,000 whilst the major competition was generally down. On a yearly basis still way ahead on percentage growth. It looks as though May was a strong news month so the 15% gain then was held in a softer June. The group now has over 600 million page views a month. We will soon see some real revenue growth from this.

I see that the Trinity management is at last starting to seek credit for its excellent mobile software product. This must mean that tomorrow's abc multi media release is going to show something worthwhile.
Certainly, the unofficial web counters are most encouraging, they usually get the direction right, even if inaccurate.

Given what happened today, maybe Odey was the seller yesterday!
