Oh, bonds are not exchange traded.... They are OTC only...


Like stocks, after issuance in the primary market, bonds are traded between investors in the secondary market. However, unlike stocks, most bonds are not traded in the secondary market via exchanges. Rather, bonds are traded over the counter (OTC). There are several reasons why most bonds are traded OTC, but chief among them is their diversity.

Thank you for taking the Berlin Stock Exchange in consideration. Unfortunately it is not possible for you to trade directly at the Berlin Stock Exchange, nevertheless there are two possible options for foreigners to invest on the Berlin Stock Exchange:

1. From domestic (U.K.) bank account or broker

Advantage: no paperwork

Disadvantage: may cost higher fees and taxes, especially on dividends and interest payments


2. From German bank account

Advantage: low costs, mostly lower taxes

Disadvantage: not applicable for all clients and all banks, may cost to transfer to the domestic bank account, some banks need you in person for opening an account


You might be able to get more information at German U.K. located banks such as Deutsche Bank or Commerzbank.

Jak.. I tried my brokers and neither sell bonds directly, only funds...

I called HL months ago and they don't sell TCG.

So only ii's can by bonds in TCG?

I don't think Bonds are as liquid as shares to buy and sell.

On HL they offer bonds, but just a limited list, and I want to buy distressed bonds like TCG trading under par or new issues at face value...

It's not on HL list of bond offerings...

So how do you see bonds trading in the open market and buy and sell them?

Is the bank debt put into a CDO and sold as an instrument?

If someone can explain, I shall be forever indebted...
