There were comments on the article yesterday; they since appear to have been removed. The first poster suggested that the loan was to MM, not to THG. Not sure how reliable that post was and/or why the 'comments' section no longer appears to be there.

Does it mean they don’t normally carry out background checks but this time they have carried out background checks because it is in quotes?

FROM THE WARRINGTON GUARDIAN TODAY.
Council chiefs approve increase to loan
12th April
COUNCIL chiefs have approved an increase to a loan following ‘lots of background checks’.

During its meeting at the Town Hall on Monday, the Labour-run council’s cabinet gave approval for the council to amend the loan facility ‘provided against a portfolio of real estate assets’ let to The Hut Group (THG).

It will see the council increase its loan, with the loan being provided to Moulding Capital Limited.

The cabinet approved a recommendation to delegate to the council’s director of corporate services and the director of law and governance, following consultation with the deputy leader and cabinet member for corporate resources, the preparation and negotiation of all documents between the council and Moulding Capital Limited and/or the relevant THG entities.
The amendments are to extend the availability period of tranche C of the current loan to December 22 2022, and to increase the loan amounts of tranches A, D and E by £18 million on a ‘fully secured’ basis.

Deputy council leader Cllr Cathy Mitchell said the purpose of the loan is to help create jobs and stimulate the local economy.

She said the company has been ‘positively affected’ by Covid-19 and is ‘growing’;, as she highlighted the trend for online trading has increased.
Cllr Mitchell also said a purpose of the loan is to provide an income, which goes towards paying for services once all of the other expenses of the loan are met.

She added that the loan is secured on ‘bricks and mortar’ and ‘lots of background checks have been done’ as always.

The council says it has administered a successful loans programme since 2009 to support economic regeneration in Warrington and the surrounding sub-region.

The loan is in line with the council’s policy framework and was originally approved by the cabinet in October 2020.

A report to the cabinet said tranche B was repaid in January 2022 in full, with the residual balance of the repayment distributed across the remaining tranches.

It added that the new loan amount will be used for the development of schemes to promote economic development and employment opportunities across Warrington and neighbouring north west authorities.

E-commerce company THG has a major logistics/distribution centre located at Omega Warrington which employs 2,700 people.

All kinds of FUD will be spread as we get closer and closer, only days left now. Shorters will get more and more desperate.

They don't realise, LTH's are knowledgeable, and have done there research. And it's worth multiples, multi bagger if there ever was one.

One thing you fail to realise hardly any stock is in PI's hands, less than 5%-10% max, don't think Softbank, Sofina and 25+ other Institutions invested in THG read these boards ;), you not gona be persuading anybody.

Well I think next RNS will surprise to the upside. MM made such a fuss about market not reacting well to the actual growth results recently, I think the RNS will be good, but hey, let's see.
And to be fair, most the stock market is a punt nowadays ;)

Jeff Bezos:

The stock is not the company. And the company is not the stock. And so, as I watched the stock fall from $113 to $6, I was also watching all of our internal business metrics -- number of customers, profit per unit ... every single thing about the business was getting better.

I think he's done ok in the end ;)
