Perversely. because MM has such a big holding. the higher the bid for all the shares that he doesn't already own. the better for him. and he'll be able to leverage his current holding at a higher price in order to buy out everyone else.

Mike Ashley did same . Walked away with Billions. MM could do same in the near future . Nearly 40 million shares changed hands in past two days . And you think nothing Going on in background . Small example look what happened to BIDS . Look what happened Friday up 125% . Plus it's the start .. Someone was selling every day to bring price down selling average 2 million a day over a month . Scare people out . Day before the news loads Dumped i bought . The rest is history Every 1p it goes up i make 10k

You need to look at it this way MM has lost billions on paper . In less than 3 months . So he is not a a stupid guy to get where he is now . For gods sake he is an Accountant. You need to think ??? What would you do in his position . I for one would buy Company back for next to nothing NOW. Wait till the time is correct then list on USA Market Nasdaq .. It's going to be worth on USA markets at least 5x what it is now if you go off it's piers .. This company is styled on USA Companies. Americas would love this Share . THE BIG PART IS PUTTING TWO FINGERS UP YO THESE DONT KNOW ANYTHING OLD GUARD TRADEES

If i was MM my take private bid would be closer to where the market has cratered my company...that would be selfish payback to Mr Market for destroying £3bn of equity value

You make a lot of sense. If this was 500 no one would be talking about an offer. Similarly at that level no one would back an offer. Not enough profit margin, which is what these guys work off.

My prediction is 350p offer from MM and his cohorts. Maybe a JV backed by PE. See how the market/press/investors react. Then sweeten the deal with a 400p knockout offer somewhere down the road.

From LSEMarekQPrice: 195.50No OpinionRE: Going PrivateToday 08:40The Betaville article clearly marks the story as a rumour only, but we should at least consider the possibility that there is some truth behind it.In the GQ interview MM hinted that he was prepared to take THG private, at least that's what I took from his comments as did the FT.Thursday and Friday THG traded over 20 million shares each day versus about 4 million on Mon,Tues and Weds. The share ownership of THG makes a buyout fairly straightforward, the top 7 shareholders own 53% of the company.Company floated at £5.4bn, rose to about £8bn and now sits at £2.4bn, so in anyone's language it IS a potential takeover target.According to the FT the average premium on share price for Private Equity buyouts of european companies 47% with the maximum being 70%.So on yesterday's close, your looking at £2.87 - £3.32 as a realistic offer for your shares IF there was a possible buyout. There is NO chance of getting near the IPO price of £5, as if the share price was trading anywhere near £5 there would be no talk of any takeover/buyout

Its easy to keep the price low with a closed book while retail get pummelled day in day out, that doesn't mean this is an accurate valuation of the company for acquisition purposes.

It would be sad to see yet another British company get bought by private equity or relist elsewhere, but that's now a common feature of London markets.

I like your enthusiasm goforgold but if there is a move to take private and that is a big fat IF, then it's pretty unlikely to be the consortium behind any buy out as 1. These share purchases don't really dent what they need to acquire and 2. They push price up if they RNS which they would have to if acting in consortium and that makes the any buy out price less attractive, as the premium falls.

Wow 21 million shares . 100% something happening here. Some really large trades Gojng on could be buying up of Blackrock stock which would be great . We could have an RNS Monday . IF you think about it MM and his Party could have been buying up BLACKROCK Stock . It makes sense which in turn gives them a bigger % of the company all under £2.00 p Next week going to be very interesting it's been battered down so much . Let's see but 100% something is happening in background

If they do take it private it will certainly not be for the price we all expect. 50-75% above the price at that point would probably be enough. If this goes back down to 170's then most retail investors will be out of pocket! But if for example they need to purchase 25% of the shares @2.50 that's still 800mil they need to raise. The only investor who would be potentially prepared to do that is soft bank and they were prepared to pay more 20% of ingenuity. Now they get 25% of the whole company. Float on the us in a few years and bang they have at least tripled there investment!

I think the main owners are perfectly within their rights to make an offer to take the company private. 300p would be reasonable. The City has shown no interest in the company

They still have 96.9 million shares (7.94%) according to Stockopedia Major shareholdings page.

They sold 27 million at £7.60 a share in a temporary lifting of the lockup period in January to satisfy institutional demand !

Only some, I thought them selling more was the start of all this downturn as it happened after the lock up period ended
