27/8/2021 12:29 | I bought in. I think a PE ratio of about 4 seems pretty cheap to me. Average FTSE100 pe ratio (of firms that make money) is about 20. Thanks for the posts. | netcurtains
27/8/2021 11:53 | konradplus. No , but Joe King is a good friend of mine ! On topic, I only trade nowadays using CFds and it transformed my fortunes some years ago when I held shares and was always slow to cut my losses . With CFDs and adopting OAAT policy or sometimes two , it imposes the big D on me and I cut loss quickly when it happens occasionally . But each to his won I guess and there is more than one way of making heaps of money . konradpuss26 Aug '21 - 15:15 - 26201 of 26213 0 3 0 Arja, 'this hard right government'! You must be Joe King. Now did you see what I did there? Now back on topic, if you sell out of this fine company where is your 'hard earned' heading? | arja
27/8/2021 11:37 | maybe 254 will be a good buy level as gapped up from that level . could this early rise be because disillusioned SBRY holders selling and switching to TSCO ? | arja
27/8/2021 10:22 | Tesco is the slow but steady one, although every little helps! More preditors than prey does bode well for all three imho. | bountyhunter
27/8/2021 10:14 | not as exhausted as SBRY 😀 have the journos been barking up the wrong tree? attention may now refocus on the jewel in the crown | bountyhunter
27/8/2021 09:49 | has had a good run this morning and now looking a bit exhausted . But chart shows uptrending pattern and any meaningful pullback should attract buyers . | arja
27/8/2021 08:43 | Again exactly what I was thinking PJ and about to post re Amazon! Great minds and all that 😉 I have suggested previously that Amazon would be the most likely predator for Tesco and stand by that although some dismissed that idea at the time. Why would Amazon bother with paying inflated prices for relative tiddlers SBRY or MRW when TSCO is out there at a bigger scale and more modest valuation given their size and with no bids as yet!? Also Amazon have already entered the supermarket arena with some novel ideas and have the distribution expertise so could transform Tesco and thwart the competition. | bountyhunter
27/8/2021 08:41 | Wish I had not sold half yesterday as losing patience ! ( wry smile ) . | arja
27/8/2021 08:36 | This is my theory. Morrisons sold to p/e. Amazon buy Tesco. Amazon pull out of deal with Morrisons. Amazon expand Tesco. Amazon cause damage to all competition. | pjleeds
27/8/2021 08:26 | that's what I was wondering! attn moved from sbry which is down? | bountyhunter
26/8/2021 18:21 | I think a lot of the HGV drivers took advantage of the many jobs in local delivery offered by the Covid crisis, Tesco took on 2500 extra drivers for the online business. It must be a nicer job to work local and go home at night than sleeping in a truck in a lay-by, if the pay is damn near as good. As for Brexit I don't think it needs to be discussed here it's done to death on all the other forums. | vaneric1
26/8/2021 16:07 | coxsmn, they are too busy sitting at home drawing benefits and using Justeat/Ubereat to get their Greggs and McDonalds takeaways delivered while watching day time t.v. It will get much worse before it gets better. | konradpuss
26/8/2021 15:56 | Why don't some of the unemployed uk workers get trained up to be lorry drivers what a novel idea that would be | coxsmn

26/8/2021 14:53 | I know what you mean about the 3 part test and this stems from the obsession and hostile to foreigners and anti immigration approach of this hard right Tory government which affects their attitude to work visas and why obstacles such as high income required etc have been introduced . Most Tory MPs are the scum of the earth with TM and aunty Tom Priti patel the worst | arja
26/8/2021 14:43 | konrad , as soon as 20 years? ( smile ) . not sure that the youngsters whose life chances have been affected by ending FOM ( pretend remainer TM's worst nightmare was continued FOM ) will thank thank the miserable old xenophobic gits in 20 years because economy has improved at that time . | arja
26/8/2021 14:06 | arja, Boris and his 'ship of fools'. I agree he cannot answer a question, however I think there are several aspects to the lorry driver shortage. O.K. some European drivers have gone home, however many potential new drivers have been unable to take the three part test to mention but two. As to BREXIT, let's wait and see (think twenty years) to see whether the U.K. was right or wrong. As to your exit of Tesco, you are neither right nor wrong currently. I think Tesco is a much higher quality company that Sainsbury however that is not saying much. | konradpuss
26/8/2021 14:01 | philanderer , an analyst's recommendation is often the kiss of death or at least it was in OZ ! ( smile ) . I have held TSCO for a few days but will close out today as it is doing nothing yet . | arja
26/8/2021 11:49 | JEFFERIES RAISES TESCO PRICE TARGET TO 330 (310) PENCE - 'BUY' | philanderer
26/8/2021 11:39 | "There was a shortage of HGV drivers going back 20 years. There are numerous reasons for a shortage of drivers. 35,000 HGV Tests cancelled last year - how many this year? Average age of HGV drivers is around 55 years old - many drivers have quit rather than take the CPC Training which is compulsory every 5 years and involves 5 days of 7 hours a day. 400,000 people have moved to the upturn in online shopping distribution since covid started. Yes, there were EU drivers who didn't come back because of covid restrictions(wages are going up in their countries so they are unlikely to be back!). Low wages over the past 20 years have not helped. " Tesco chairman warns of shortages in UK supermarkets at Christmas as he calls on the Government to change post-Brexit rules for lorry drivers | johnwise
24/8/2021 13:51 | Markets may move downwards after the summer break. Retain positions in Tesco; watching Sainsbury closely which has boosted the Tesco share price | alphorn
24/8/2021 13:18 | "Tesco (TSCO) is not too big to be bid for in our view either" [#26190] agree with that, especially given the number of bidders involved with MRW, only 3 large UK supermarkets left and Amazon's ambitions 'The analysts said that even Tesco, valued at £18bn, “is not too big to be subject to an offer”.' | bountyhunter
24/8/2021 12:46 | TSCO fallen back today unfortunately and I wonder if the run is over . SBRY retracing will not have helped and quite a dip there ! | arja |
