Yes very good article and made me think. What happens to all the EU residents already here. Will they instantly have to leave, or do they stay ?If you are here on an EU passport, would you you need to apply via non EU resident visa system.Would we instantly stop paying large amounts of benefits back to EU countries. If in theory that is the case, the argument to exit is strong and will achieve some of what we all would like. Housing for the young, healthcare that is not stretched to breaking point etc.Otherwise imho it is shutting the stable door..........after the horse has bolted.

loganair, I disagree. Sure the share price has been consistently knocked over the past few years, but to me it is showing signs of recovery. And the chart is beginning to look like a head and shoulders inverted bottom (not confirmed of course until the 200p level is reached and broken up wards. Time will tell, place your bets!

When it comes to Tesco it seems to me that at least for the time being it is not a share to Invest in rather one for the speculators to come in and out of as I can not see it significantly going any where for at least the next year or two.

have you tried degiro yet ? Would be interested to hear your experience.
My experience is very positive. Have submitted a few suggestions to improve their system. They are quite responsive and will take note of clients views .

The only sure thing in life is that we're all going to die at some point, irrespective of wealth, health or stealth.

It's up to each individual how they live their lives and what works for one person won't work for another and that's the biggest problem with today's Nanny state, telling us we must do this, or do that, and what's bad and what's good. Of course the good and bad list tends to change like the wind depending on who's got the agenda and who's putting the cash up for a "study".

My advice ? Do what you like, as the only person that can truly judge you is yourself.

What a bunch of food snobs!

I frequently use my microwave, if it comes out of the freezer and cooks in five minutes so what, it's done me no harm.

I'm fit and well, not overweight and eighty one years old.

Doesn't bode well for supermarkets if people are getting health conscious. In all honesty I think you just need to get the balance right between the 2 for 1 price cream cakes and the fizzy drinks

Everything in moderation is a tip which always rings true.

Get out for a walk, play golf, look at the scenery around you and ditch the technology, even if it's only for a couple of hours each day and that's as good a way of relaxing and recharging the batteries as anything.

Ladeside, there is healthy living and then healthy living. It all depends on who you listen too and what you call healthy living.
I gave up going to the Gym years ago as I never felt it did me any good and go back to what I used to do with my Dad in the garage, which is burst training and weights. I don't do huge gym sessions as our bodies were never meant to be on the go all the time. Just look at the animal kingdom and you get a sense of how we are supposed to be. And stress is a huge factor on our health too.

And Logan, i find I look in peoples trollies all the time and amazed the amount of junk they have in them.

There's not a Waitrose within 30 miles of where I stay and I think we only have a couple in the whole country so far as I'm aware..........

As for "healthy living", I believe it all to be a major con job. Look at the generations who lived through rationing, and who barely saw fruit or fresh veg for decades. I'd be more concerned about the lifestyles of the modern wanna be brigade. Constantly "on the go", smartphone as part of their anatomy, lap top or tablet always within a couple of feet and then their crammed in 30 min session to the "gym". Oh yes, it makes them think they're doing well, however a heart attack and high blood pressure is a given I'm afraid..........

I agree. I don't buy the basics, as you only have to look at the ingredients to realise why it tastes bad for those with a good pallet. That said, for those the constantly shove bad food down there throats they think food is just food. It can take weeks even months to get your taste buds back to what they really should be.

I used to like a good spoon or two of sugar in my coffee to cover the taste. Just goes to show how bad instant coffee taste. Give me a decent coffee now and I don't need sugar.

As for salt, I use salt a lot, but proper sea salt and avoid table salt at all costs. Salt is required, just depends on the type of salt you use.

As for the builders breakfast, that depends on where you go. Excellent cafe near me that does a superb breakfast and I'm full for most of the day.

My wife will not even use a microwave and actually we do not have a microwave at home and try and use fresh veg as often as possible and cook it with a steamer.

Rather difficult for me considering I use to work in Taiwan which is often completely different to the Chinese resturants we get in the UK.

I know of quite a few people who have 4 or 5 spoons of sugar in their morning cereal. When comes to the washing up, the sugar is left in a splodge at the bottom, what a waste of sugar.

Education, like I was, I have taught my son not to waste food and to only put on his plate what he is going to eat as again I have seen so many of those who say they can not afford better quality food throw away so much food.

Not wishing to sound rude, when I went to a BBQ in our local council estate I was astonished to see how much salt and pepper they were throwing on to their food and 3 or 4 spoons of sugar into their tea and coffee

While I was in my local town my wife and I went into a local Japanese resturant and we each just had an expensive desert, it was beautifully tasty and filling. Next time my wife took me to a local workmens cafe where for the same price we each had a main course, dessert and 2 cups of tea cost the same price, both of us found the food overwhelmingly Sugary to the taste, hurting our teeth and not at all filling.

Which was the better, the more expensive as it was just as filling but wow! was it so much tastier.

One thing I have noticed, many of the people who say they can not afford to buy better food have many computer games, stacks of DVDs, so many clothes they do not know what to do with them all and loads of other stuff that my family doesn´t seems to me the simple reason why we can afford to spend a little more on better quality food.
