06/9/2019 07:48 | Sorry, forgot to coy this section on scales.."Because GlobalSign's IoT Identity Platform and IoT Edge Enroll are highly scalable, capable of issuing over 3,000 certificates per second and millions per day, they are ideally suited to the high-volume Azure IoT Hub ecosystem. Customers eager to test a proof of concept (PoC) with low volume certificate issuance and then rapidly scale to thousands or millions of certificates in full production, will find the GlobalSign and Azure integration a smooth path to success."That right, 3000 CERTIFICATES per SECOND.LOL | duxy786

06/9/2019 07:29 | Barely 3 months left in the year some were confident of 2 funding this year. 2 is looking ropey. I was hopeful for at least FVR even that is looking 50/50 for this year as days go by with nothing.Hopefully confirmation of no more funding for DA and a few other positive news in the next few months may take us higher. Not a great year for genuine tern shareholders so far. | jprich

05/9/2019 21:13 | What is LoRaWAN and how is it impacting the internet of things? Learn more about the applications of this new technology and how it will benefit us in future. The Internet of Things (IoT) is still enjoying the early stages of explosive growth; masses of excited headlines coupled with an attention-grabbing range of commercial applications. Though LoRaWAN has been around for more than five years, the adoption of IoT has given it a new lease of life and it’s become a key element in the IoT connectivity mix With less hardwareo deploy, a more seamless interaction across the network, and robust data security, LoRaWAN is already making a difference to the way we see IoT in future. But what is it and how is it making an impact? What is LoRaWAN? Put simply, it’s a low-powered and efficient technology that creates an IoT network across a wide geographical region – from a power station, to a farm, to an entire smart city. Based on the LoRa modulation method for transmitting radio signals, it is designed for long-range, low-power and bi-directional communications between battery-operated sensors. It is proving a very cost-effective way of allowing smart applications to be deployed across large distances in cities or across the countryside. Essentially, LPWAN fills the gap between mobile communications such as 4G and LTE, and short-range wireless communications like WiFi and Bluetooth. The benefits of LoRaWAN This technology has huge benefits over other, more traditional approaches to communication. First and foremost, LoRaWAN has a low deployment cost compared to alternatives. Its low power consumption, and the fact that sensors can be powered by batteries with a lifetime of 5 – 10 years, means these networks are perfect for IoT communications between sensors, databases and applications. Its ability to work well over huge distances also gives it the advantage of being usable regardless of whether you’re in an urban or rural environment. Plus, its low bandwidth communication makes it great for practical deployments that need less data, on an irregular basis, such as with local government waste checks (knowing if bins are full and ready for collection, etc) in a smart city environment. Where LoRaWAN can make a difference with the IoT LoRaWAN networks are being trialled and tested around the world, with many installations already in place and the technology increasingly being deployed to deliver connectivity for the IoT. In turn, this is paving the way for innovative new ways of working and living. The advantages of this style of IoT network mean that it is ideal for applications in industries such as agriculture, industrial installations, utility metering and logistics, but we’re already seeing people think even bigger—working with LoRaWAN technology to create smart buildings and entire smart cities. In short, the potential of IoT ecosystems underpinned by LoRaWAN networks is rich and diverse. LoRaWAN can help to improve existing services, or it can unlock entirely new ways of tackling challenges such as air pollution in cities, or waste management. Meanwhile, out in the countryside, some wineries are engaging LoRaWAN technology for up-to-date soil moisture tracking in their vineyards. It’s this kind of efficient communication that lifts LoRaWAN above other connectivity solutions like 3G, 4G or even 5G, and will enable us to create an IoT that truly lives up to its potential and gives us the chance to work and live more effectively. Want to hear more about how LoRaWAN technology and how its use of smart applications could create an internet of things to benefit your business?
