23/1/2021 16:46 | "The global tactical military communications market, which comprises airborne, naval, man-portable, vehicular and stationary, is set to see substantial growth over the coming decade. According to market analysis by GlobalData says, by the end of 2028, the sector will be worth $151bn globally. This growth is driven largely by demand for man-portable innovations, which account for more than a third of the market (38%). The modernisation of man-portable communications systems in particular has long been on the wish lists of armies relying on traditional radio in the field. The US Army, for instance, has been looking to modernise its tactical military communications infrastructure for more than 20 years, starting with the joint tactical radio system (JTRS) in 1997." "As Thompson wrote in Forbes, “when it comes to communicating on the battlefields of tomorrow … everybody in the army seems to agree on what they would like. It’s an iPhone.” "The battle for data supremacy has already gained pace, with the South China Morning Post recently suggesting the roll-out of 5G could revolutionise military communications, “raising the stakes between those developing the technology”, and ultimately change the warfare and cybersecurity landscape." 23/1/2021 16:01 | UTGP Think the idea is that if there is a positive covid result among runners it informs other runners of the positive result rather than engage in social distancing during the race. But to enforce it the solution probably records the fact that the holder has ignored the social distancing allowing management to enforce it with disciplinary action at a later date. I for one are getting royally peeved off at the amount of people who don't follow the rules at work and in the outside community. | sweepie2
23/1/2021 15:47 | Clay14 - who came up with that one, socially distancing at the London marathon, bonkers - Wyld technology can detect infringements on distancing, that's fine but how can it possibly enforce it, impossible, but for smaller controlled environments like care homes etc there is lots of potential. | upthegardenpath
23/1/2021 13:01 | Read an article about it and this is potentially misconstruing that the London Marathon organisers are hoping to have thousands more running the race virtually using a 'tracking app' presumably like Strava. Let the record state however I'd be delighted to be wrong and find out there will be a social distancing solution being used. | clay14 |
