Exactly wanttowin. But if you buy today your name will not appear on the register until after the 24th and thus you will not be eligible for the div.

Surely it doesn't get any clearer than this from the results, or am I misunderstanding this ?

'The directors have proposed a final dividend of 21p per ordinary share totalling approximately GBP16.7 million, payable on 18 August 2015, to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 24 July 2015. In accordance with the Group's accounting policies the dividend has not been included as a liability as at 31 March 2015. This dividend will be subject to income tax at each recipient's individual marginal income tax rate.'

As far as I know, if you buy on ex-div day, which I'm sure is today, you will NOT receive the dividend.

The register/record date is tomorrow, 24th, and is always a day or two after ex-div date because it takes time for you to get on the register.

IMHO etc etc

Yes that was what I thought but a few sources are showing it already having gone ex - div despite the rns wording so I am a bit confused at the moment

Spreadbets are paid on the day, if long you get a payment, if short (like psmith) you will get a short charge.

If you are a share holder, they will need to hold over the period stated and payment is later in the year.

Shares are mostly marked down on ex-dividend days.

davros - that's right but the shareholders holding at cob on 24th is determined from the record date - that's different from the xd date

It is ex dividend today as stated on the Hargreaves Lansdown site.

The final results rns says divi will be paid to shareholders holding at cob on 24th so the adjustment should be made at the end of Friday and the share price drop first thing Monday so my reading of this is it hasn't gone xd yet - where are you getting your info from?
