All the cash gone, bad debts and virtually zero margins. I guess all that's left for them is to be optimistic! It will be a long haul before this looks like a good value play.

A very creditable result and a divi increase.

The recovery has begun.

Does it not beg the question as to whether the director should be dealing ?

The query contract is of sufficient size to stand out in today's rns and the directors must surely have much more info about it (either good or bad) than other investors.

To me this statement says little but:- no rights issue for now. One contract is causing difficulty I guess quantum £5 to £10m. Business should still recover to value business at one fifth of T/O. Director purchase last week has been a distraction.

The warning was there in the IMS on 19th November, and obviously no comment on margins in this statement. CTO have always flattered to deceive periodically there are always banana skins in their path, 1m cash in hand does not count for much.

"Current trading continues to meet the Board's expectations. However, we are finding it increasingly challenging to agree final accounts promptly. The timing of final account payments will determine our year end cash position, but in the meantime our balance sheet strength enables us to take a robust approach to contract negotiations."

Not a very encouraging statement today - seems to boil down to:

'we are still arguing over a major contract but luckily we still have a bit of cash in hand'

I was hoping for something better but this puts a bit of a damper on things.

I agree with Dozey1, share price could treble. Some similar businesses have gone out of business helping the competitive position. Main danger is cash flow from late payments on old contracts. Also could be bought on the cheap by another company.

The pendulum that is property is still swinging in the positive direction, and commercial lagging the housing market. My feeling is that CTO has further to go. They have continued to pick up contracts through the downturn, and have built a strong reputation. Now it is time for margins to increase a tad, and profits rebound to levels of five years ago. In the mean time the net cash and maintained divi lends a element of security, and also the possibility of takeover by a services company with an eye on their customer list.

Why should the issue of whether these shares are a good investment now depend on the price that Mr X paid for them 2 years ago or on what Mrs Y paid 5 years ago?

I have held these for two years and am almost back to a profit. One more push tomorrow and the sell flag will be prompted. Do you think this is worth holding for further growth?

According to Google, an interim management statement will be posted on 17 January. So the odds are that this will be positive.
