10/7/2019 18:42 | I also think there will be a market correction soon... Financial crisis around the corner... | sikhthetech
10/7/2019 16:00 | I think there will be a market correction soon the US are talking about a rate cut of which I don't think will actually happen but the US seem to think it will but the Dow can't push 27000 of which is a sign of market weakness from today's data. Im staying long in TW. Because I haven't stretched myself too much but I'm going flat and going into cash funds and index linked bonds with my pension. I don't like the look of the Dow it just can't push 27000 something is wrong. | turvart
10/7/2019 13:16 | He only got in because no one else wanted the job of picking up the pieces and going cap in hand to the IMF. | gbh2
10/7/2019 13:09 | Ted heath spent more time on his yaght morning cloud than sorting out problems in cabinet. | martyn9
10/7/2019 11:34 | ted heath was prime minister when the lights went out, you had to tie a candle to your supermarket trolley so see down the aisles. | owencoffin
10/7/2019 11:11 | Lord Rievaulx kept us out of Vietnam,that definitely was a total disaster. | riley109
10/7/2019 08:35 | And that is where democracy can break down! The electorate might vote for a Labour government but investors (educated gamblers) can bring it down. | m4rtinu
09/7/2019 21:16 | It was as they picked up the bits that were left behind after all the serious investment cash disappeared to keep it safe from Wilson's lot and country was virtually broke. | gbh2
09/7/2019 20:36 | We tried it in the 60s/70s, Harold Wilson a total disaster wasn't it the tories who got you kicked out of the erm and saw interest rates go up to #15%. the building societies were sending out letters every other day saying your mortgage has gone up again. | owencoffin
09/7/2019 19:53 | We tried it in the 60s/70s, Harold Wilson a total disaster, ended with devaluing the £, three day weeks and unsettled government for years, it took hatchet Thatcher to sort it out after which the whole working class suffered. | gbh2
09/7/2019 19:13 | And my wildest dreams :) Sorry, but its just the way I am. It would be sad if any "proud to be British" investors, reverse that pride IF Labour were to get in. Of course, I do accept that that is probably what would happen: a flight of capital. Labour would have to get the financial controls in place very quickly. | m4rtinu
09/7/2019 14:23 | My worst fears are that we'll end up with a Corbyn style government whose ham fisted attempts to re-balance the pay and earning structure will drive out investment and cripple the financial future of everyone in the UK. | gbh2
09/7/2019 10:45 | gbh - can't disagree with that. omg - there is no doubt the EU needs substantial change and could well fall apart; for my money better to have been in and the one's leading that change. As far as UK is concerned, many ordinary people will suffer significant hardship in your 2/3 years scenario. And if/when the economy did recover, the ordinary person wouldn't have benefitted. There would still be greed at the top. And we would have plenty of our own self-serving, unelected nobodies. | m4rtinu
09/7/2019 09:13 | m4rtinu, I was always industry based and when it got to a time that I had to sit around tables listening to FDs describe how we could significantly reduce costs by stopping training (because it raised expectations) rationalising the number of permanent number of employees i.e. getting rid of in favour of shipping in “trained” Those of us that were running these businesses were always well paid and yes there were always attached perks, but at the end of the day we had staff which we paid well, ensured they had pensions and training in order to allow them to plan for their future, today it’s just about Greed at the Top. | gbh2
09/7/2019 08:53 | We are having to fight against all the people who have no faith in our country. Once we have left, and two/three years on and Britain is flourishing, watch the dominoes fall in Europe. Run by self serving, unelected nobody's. | omg48
08/7/2019 17:33 | m4rtinu, Different people have different perspectives of Brexit depending I suppose on what industry they work in I assume yours is Financial ? | jugears
08/7/2019 13:58 | Jugs - whilst I can fully understand the "boredom" of people with Brexit, it is just too important a decision/ outcome to say lets just get on with it "come what may"; or "come what bojo" as it looks like being. I would prefer to stay in and change the EU, but given the vote 52-48, I would accept leaving but in an orderly fashion - with a deal. | m4rtinu
08/7/2019 10:32 | Hell of a lot in and around Westminster making a fortune out of dragging in out imo. | gbh2
08/7/2019 10:14 | Turvart, Anytime before we leave the Eu will be a good time to buy, In my opinion deal or no deal buyers will start to return to the markets, The whole Brexit thing has become boring now & most people I have spoken to would be happy to leave tomorrow with no deal at all, IMHO it benefits know one to drag it out any longer. | jugears
07/7/2019 19:09 | Jugears, I think it’s just down to low volumes of summer trading, particularly June and July, this period could be a good time to pick up some extra shares IMO. | turvart
04/7/2019 09:14 | Good results so don't see why Tw should be down. | jugears
03/7/2019 20:50 | Good to see this over 160 again. | turvart |
