Raffles, I would like nothing more than a substantial rate rise unfortunately I think this is now something that is a minimum of 18 months to 2 years away & then nothing more than a quarter percent.I personally see the sector ticking away steadily for the next year or two, then increasing as demand picks up. The problem with Berkeley there area of build is to thinly spread which means any down turn say in London & you are pretty much stuffed, unlike TW that is spread all around the country so if The London market is Down this can be compensated by sales in the rest of the uk.

I think (by implication) that many investors in this sector will look at Director selling (of huge amounts of shares) as a signal that SPs are topping out.

I'll keep buying at these levels until dividend payments start to weaken :)

I wasn't implying any negative view on the sector.

Old news? - the proposed placing via accelerated bookbuild was only announced by Barclays after market hours yesterday, with the results published today of placing 7% of Redrow's share capital at 590p.

There doesn't seem to be any other news today to affect the sector.

I'm inclined to concur with you jugears. But sentiment not helped by director sales elsewhere too like Berkeley. My big issues with sector at these levels is just the degree to which it has outperformed domestic mortgage banks, like Lloyds, whose fortunes are inexorably linked together. So short term I'd rather be all over financials than housebuilders - esp as Government starting to cave into public sector wage demands is likely to bring forward a rate rise

As Steve Morgan has announced he will be stepping back , Its not really surprising that he is cashing in some shares in Redrow Especially after its strong performance over the last few years since he returned to the company he founded, There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a bit of well earned profit, He also donates substantial amounts of money to charity, Its funny how the ill informed always assume that if a director/ceo sells shares its because bad news is coming, Looking at redrows predictions I think bad news is a long way of.

Thank-you exmooroil, it is news to me.
Does not say when placing started but implies this week with T+2 being 14sep, so I concur with your opinion, though sector down again today, so may be one factor of several.

Based on what facts other than fiction? I have been with Tw for nine years now & have supplied the company for nearly 30 years. IMHO they have the best management team than all the other builders & so what if sales are flat next year so long as they are selling houses & paying a good dividend it is a know brainer to stay with them, & even if they do fall they will certainly go back up near dividend time. Technicalinveztor perhaps you would do better during your school breaks than to come on here trying to wind people up with you obvious lack of investing knowledge,as Technical investor you are definitely not! LOL
