What is this "affordable quality housing shortage"?

That only suggest houses are priced at unaffordable levels and nothing about scarcity. Some people argue that even at the current very unaffordable prices (by historical measures relative to income) that modern building standards are of such poor quality that they do not meet old social housing standards.

Do you have any data on the UK housing chronic shortage?

I have been researching housing for many years and have never found any evidence of shortage, in fact my research is pointing to a potential oversupply due to demographics and quantity of homes built relative to population growth (The last 40 years, based on World Bank data, shows UK population has grown by 10% while we have added 30% to the housing stock).

I hear on the BBC ever few weeks about this chronic shortage but they never provide any data?

I've been out of this stock for a while; but I bought in the other day and doubled my holding yesterday.
This looks good for a short term gain.
