27/6/2016 08:54 | Only 1 in 3 of the under 24s turned out to vote Warranty. This political apathy is probably a consequence of listening to you whinging on about the EU in bombastic terms.Go and watch repeats of Dad's army. There were good causes to vote to come out of the EU but they aren't what motivated a sizeable number of "leavers" . | steeplejack
27/6/2016 08:36 | Vincemeister 24 Jun'16 - 17:56 - 16739 of 16759 0 0 What happens if Sturgeon goes E.U. leaders asking to join and they say (as a warning shot) "yes: and give Scotland wads of cash to make up oil income losses. THEN Scotland goes for a referendum.....game set and match to the SNP I think! Same for Northern Ireland What SNP folk up here in Scotland are forgetting (or conveniently ignoring) is that should Scotland wish to pursue membership of the EU they will HAVE to conduct their own referendum on it. It cannot be assumed that the 63% in Scotland that voted to remain in the EU as part of the UK would also vote in the same way to a totally different question.....that question being....Would you like Scotland to join the EU as a single entity under renegotiated terms? Logic would dictate that the SNP should hold such a referendum before any 2nd indy referendum as there would be no sense in gaining independence only to find that the public do not want Scotland to join the EU as a single entity. The SNP WOULD also have to disclose what it is going to cost Scotland to join the EU as a single entity before any EU referendum. In my opinion the EU will not be interested in Scotland joining the EU without the rest of the UK. With a deficit of £15.8b Scotland are a financial basket case. The EU have just lost one of their biggest contributors why would they take on another dependent. | damac
26/6/2016 22:39 | The joys of having an undervalued currency have helped Germany no end. The UK will find it helpful too. Reminds me of 1992 when we left the ERM. There's no point in having an overvalued currency if it raises the level of unemployment. Ask the Greeks and Spaniards. Just watch the trade deficit melt away and unemployment fall further. | hooley

26/6/2016 20:35 | "May be talking absolute twaddle" Get your name on the list for prime minister, you have the right qualification. | gbh2
26/6/2016 20:29 | Can't agree with you more squiresquire. On another note where do we all see this at open on Monday? I reckon 15-25% up. The huge drop we can all agree was on the basis of WW3 starting, famine and the birth of the antichrist born in Grimsby. With this not happening and the realisation that we're more likely to be 2 years and four months away from leaving (giving ample time to get our things in order) i think there'll be an immediate correction in share price May be talking absolute twoddle I sincerely hope I'm not and if not KERCHING. | imgoingallin
26/6/2016 09:00 | Juncker and Tusk have never liked the UK so no change there. | gbh2
26/6/2016 07:50 | Hooley - It was to be expected that the unelected bureaucrats like Juncker and Tusk would be full of hate at the British people's decision to reject their authority, but the response from Berlin has been more conciliatory with Angela Merkel saying "No need to be nasty" and also that she was not in favour of pushing for a speedy withdrawal. So it seems that there is already a softening of opinion in Europe. | gp1948
26/6/2016 07:11 | So we've done the deed and got back our democracy. Back in May 1945 the economy was in a terrible mess, but we climbed back. Of course Brussels is now full of hate, as is Berlin. We destroyed their game plan. Others will follow our example. The EU prison is about to fall. Rejoice! | hooley
25/6/2016 22:53 | I must applaud those sentiments too warranty | gp1948
25/6/2016 22:36 | Well said warranty. | grahamite2

25/6/2016 13:44 | In my experience as a mortgage broker working in New Builds, not a lot is going to change for the house-builders in the short term - so this price fall, looks a good opportunity. My average buyers are young professional couples or middle class families. They are using Help to Buy. Most of my clients are employed. This will not change. Non-EU Migrants to the UK seeking a mortgage, have some immediate issues; lack of permanent residency is the main one. If they are self employed, then lack of a 2 year earnings history is another. No credit history. Might have a deposit, might not. Over the next 2 years we might actually get a boom in non EU migrants and EU citizens coming here as the clock is ticking for them now - particularly if we introduce a points based immigration system post BREXIT. As long as BREXIT doesn't result in drastically raised interest rates not a lot will change. We might even get more of the right type of immigrants that want to buy New Build houses; doctors, IT contractors etc. If Builders have a looming problem, it will be when Help to Buy is pulled. | molatovkid
25/6/2016 07:08 | Cant see the scots giving up the £1 to join the EU, plus they need $150 a barrel to run the country. | frontdoor bull
