Importantly it broke through the short-term downtrend and this looks like the start of the next leg up, especially since 100p was a platform

got this from an article today Goldman really like house builders ...

Barratt Developments, up 3.3%, Taylor Wimpey, up 3.3%, Bellway, up 3.1%, Bovis Homes Group, up 2.5%, Redrow, up 2.2%, Crest Nicholson Holdings, up 2.1%, are amongst the biggest gainers on the FTSE 250 index. The house-builders are all benefiting from ratings and/or price target changes from Goldman Sachs. Barratt's rating has been upgraded to Buy from neutral, with a price target rise to 482p from 408p. Taylor Wimpey's price target has been increased to 166p from 131p and the company has also been added to Goldman's conviction buy list. Bellway's price target has been boosted to 2016p from 1827p, similarly Redrow's price target is 341p from 300p. Bovis's recommendation has been upgraded to Buy from Neutral, with a price target of 997p from 933p. Crest has been initiated with a Buy rating and a price target of 530.

All housebuilders doing well today, plus for those who missed it, Panmure Gordon upgraded Taylor Wimpey from Sell to Hold, raising the price target by 11p to 100p stating that they expect a good autumn

Well, 100p is now passed, what next Panmure? Lol

My bet is that you've never enquired into what happens if your broker cannot find a buyer for your shares

I use CFD's with DMA so don't need a broker (although my provider should be trading paper to hedge my positions and therefore influence price action; in some small way [;-)] ). In liquid markets (to which CFDs are frequently limited)a transaction can always be made. Sp volatility increases in shallower markets, but there is always some-one willing to transact at the right price! Fundamentally there is no difference; for every buy there is a sell.

Interesting chat....anyhow, any-one have a link to GS recommendation for UK building sector conviction buy rating as I can't find one? Ta.

My bet is that you've never enquired into what happens if your broker cannot find a buyer for your shares, ok it took me a few years before the question crossed my mind, but these days I think of it as there HAS to be a Buyer for every sale.

Main difference is, is the Buyer a willing buyer or one that simple has to take up your shares whether he/she wants them or not!

Edit: Must get off, back later have pencilled in 103p for close, maybe more if the US have a good run this afternoon.

Have a good one :))

"For every Buy there's a Sell"

If I had a pound for every time I've heard that misnomer I'd be rich !

...for every buy there is a sell, some-one sells to buyer, its a transaction. Shares don't appear or disappear when one side buys or sells! Ignore buy/sell ratio. Its pointless.

I can spot the difference, and whilst surprised at the number that want to get out I'm not surprised by those that think TW is a good buy, as for being here long term, that means different things to different people :))
