16/11/2015 16:47 | Tanfield announces that, at the Annual General Meeting held earlier today, with the exception of Resolutions 4 and 5, all resolutions were duly passed. Resolutions 4 and 5 (relating to the authority to allot further shares) were withdrawn and not put to a vote, as it was felt by the Board that the level of authority for those resolutions was too high in the context of Tanfield being a passive investment company. | orange1

09/11/2015 11:01 | Very interesting to see how someone often takes the opportunity to hit on the stock when there is only small volume on the bid side. It is as if there is a deliberate wish to get the price down. Well, if I was a buyer of the company I might choose the same method as it disencourages holders. | multiplural
09/11/2015 09:17 | They should indeed. Apart from whatever upsurge might be occuring in construction activity in parts of the world, more and more countries are legislating against the use of ladders for high access. More and more trades that require short-term rooftop access (eg, for storm damage repairs and for solar panel installations) are finding it worthwhile buying their own cherry pickers rather than relying on conventional scaffolds. Before I retired, I frequently had to inspect the interior of church roofs. In earlier years I hired a rope-operated extension ladder, and required two volunteers to shift it, yard by yard, around the church. I had to climb down and back up again repeatedly with torch, clipboard and tools, which was a hell of a chore. In my last couple of years I hired a battery powered cherrypicker which I could drive along the aisle, reaching the entire roof of a nave without coming down. Surveyors working for peer companies went the same way. A builder friend decided to buy a cherrypicker so that he could specialise in chimney repairs, giving him an edge in pricing and in quick response, compared with builders requiring scaffold. There are still many specialised areas of construction where cherrypickers will increasingly become the more convenient option. | m.t.glass

09/11/2015 08:49 | We must be an update on Snorkel way overdue. Last we heard anything was late July. I hope we will see an update before the AGM. From what I can read on the industry they should be absolutely booming. | multiplural |
