It was only a brief discussion on the BASH panel as to the interpretation of the update.
We discussed how its difficult without guidance.

I was on and expressed my view.

People picked out the negatives which are inflation in materials and transport as well as supply issues.

These whilst being headwinds are common with all importers.

They missed the fact that we are up 24% on sales approx. 4 million

Last year first half was up 6% and that dropped an extra 1million to GP.

This year we had a bad.......... well cold April and a wet may against 2 very good months last year and I estimate a further 1 million in GP.

D2C sales are key and big margin.

By the end of the discussion we came up with our own forecast for the year based on the first 5 months and we agreed on 90p eps.
If we can get stock I think we may have to revise this up.

Hopefully we get more information at the AGM.

Tablet died after an hour and a half but I enjoyed what I saw up to then in my first visit. Why do people never give back chargers when they borrow them? Why don't they say "will you give me a charger" I look forward to receiving the recording. Can someone give me the heads up at about what time TND was discussed.
Thanks

The pinch point on the bikes may well be linked to Shimano.

I will let you google that. But essentially if you dig deep enough you will see that their approach to remping production was, let's say "cautious".

Those concerns were already there before the update, and obviously we wouldn't have them if it wasn't that the industry is marking tons of money..
So other than 24% up revenue, what is the news? You will never have that demand without those concerns, to me is crazy to expect to have an update without mentioning those concerns. And for the record are the same concerns of when the price was 180. I don't see the bad news tbh. Like everything, who will live will see

I had a meeting this morning with a very successful businessman who is MD of his own company. He has grown at 20%+ per year for all the time I have worked with him (since 2006) and makes millions a year, he actually admitted to me he has more money than he knows how to spend! He manufactures in the far east and in the UK and I asked him about supply side issues and input costs and he admitted that it is an issue currently but he sees it not as a shortage of materials but as an increased demand which is driving up prices. He also said that he believes that it would be sorted out relatively quickly and the timeframe he placed on it is "4 months" (no idea why he thinks that precise time).

Hi Rhomboid1

Fair comment. I guess the question is the level of negativity that is already in the price.

Compared with other companies, eg UPGS, which probably have similar issues, TND is on a very low multiple.

If one sees TND as a lucky beneficiary of a global pandemic, one should have sold above £7. If however one sees TND as an ongoing strong growth story, incurring a few unavoidable short term issues, I really cannot see the point in selling now.

If I didn’t hold I would be watching TND like a hawk, as you probably are.

Obviously not long until the AGM update

I don’t hold but am watching closely as there’s a lot of attractive aspects to buying a credible growth story at a deep value multiple...but I read the trading statement...& reread it ..& this passage stood out rather;

‘ One of our biggest challenges continues to be stock availability, particularly on bicycles, which once more is being hindered by worldwide shipping capacity and container availability. Freight costs have increased again in recent weeks and global demand for components, particularly for bicycles, remains high which has impacted our margin.
We also continue to be concerned by ongoing cost increases, with significant rises in input costs such as steel, oil, plastic and cardboard all of which also put pressure on margin.
Further, we remain mindful that COVID-19 is a continuing problem in some of our supplier countries.’

..taken together these represent well flagged reasons for some holders to take a little off the table imho

Thank you for again sharing your thoughts re TND.

I haven’t been buying as I already have a large position (for me) but I do think one has to have been particularly unwise (choosing my words carefully) to have sold down on the basis of disappointment with the TS.

choosing my words carefully " I think a rushed statement on stockapedia" by Paul damaged peoples view. He read the negatives and almost ignored the 24% increase in sales.

I think the EPS at half time will be 50% above last year which was up 7 fold on year before.

The third quarter was poor for tandem last year after a strong first 2.

24 % is equal to plus 4 million on turnover and at 30% ( down 3 points) its 1.2m on GP.

I just keep adding!

bwm2....The recordings of each show are sent to ticketholders the next day so you can watch at your leisure. Annual pass holders get access to the whole library of about 25 shows that we have hosted since last Summer.

Tandem have been featured on the BASH and Jack Brumby may mention the update on the show this Monday as he is one of the panelists
