Nobby it’s a guy called ShareSting who claims to be heavily invested. Claims there has been a meeting. I am cautious to believe and do my own research but he seems balanced in his view and is respected with other posters.

That TERN rumour may be correct but..it's Likya123 AKA Wally who is pumping it. He's dangerous. On SNG..Remdisivir is an barely tested artificial anti viral, difficult to administer and has unknown consequences. ( as far as I'm aware) IFN b is a naturally occurring substance that is deficient in the old and in those with poorer immunity and therefore a much safer and direct treatment to bolster those IFN b levels and reduce suffering. I'm now expert in Pharma nor medical science but, I'm pretty good with common sense and know which horse I'd rather back.

Three big players in plasma are Aussie Company, CSL, Spain's Grifols and Takeda after taking out Shire (who in turn bought out Baxter spin off Baxtala). See a nice link and video from Grifols which explains well how plasma would be applied to COVID-19 patients: https://www.grifols.com/en/covid-19-updatesThis treatment course seems to be pushed from US which is a biggest commercial plasma market (as the pay donors, unlike elsewhere) and have majority of large research / production sites (work on last litre economics, taking out the four major proteins for sale) - my take is that plasma treatments tend to be expensive and are for more severe conditions, and while benefits would appear to be present, the use of this type of therapy would be reserved for most severe cases. Don't think it is a silver bullet in itself because of logistics of producing, but the antibodies the body produces are key to other research areas around vaccines etc. Personally I think we are a way off vaccines, and there is a place for a range of viable treatments until that happens and still see SNG as highly positive.

It has a chance of working. However, difficult to get enough plasma to treat everyone and from a regulatory point of view difficult to get batch consistency. Not a real competitor to SNG001 IMHO

And in the COPD trial that was the first part of the trial before the patients got infections and all 10 patients got drug. It was an open label part of the protocol so completely different from this study.

The question which is as yet unanswered in any trial is whether those effects on cells in the lung translate in to a beneficial effect on the viral infection. I guess they are analysing the sputum samples as they go along but that data will still be blinded. It would be surprising if you didnt see the same effects and nevertheless, of course that would be a plus but not necessarily indicative of a positive result.

Agree I think they have seen something, Nobby this suggests someone is able to view the data as that trial has not finished. I agree it does not give an overall view and no one has that but they saw something in the other trial. How could they make a statement like that if not as the trial is yet to finish and be unblinded?

From the Placing document, with reference to the ongoing COPD trial, they were able to mention:

‘Early data from this double-blind, placebo-controlled trial have demonstrated that the antiviral responses in the lung (assessed using sputum biomarkers) are similar to those observed in the asthma trial, where we saw clinical benefit in lung function.’

So perhaps ‘early data’ may be available from the COVID-19 trial?

And it is not so much the scaling up of production where they need help but more the marketing and distribution globally. I guess they could cope with the UK but have no infrastructure in the US for example.
