Can't see this mentioned in any of the previous RNS. Have I missed anything?

Not a scientist but as I understand, SNG treatment is all about triggering the early defence mechanisms in the lungs - so makes sense that to show a better response - they want to capture people earlier in the infection. Nice post.

non-hospitalised but high risk groups (e.g. elderly or diabetics) will be invited to take part in the trial. They would receive either SNG001 or placebo once daily for 14 days

https://www.hra.nhs.uk/covid-19-research/approved-covid-19-research/281317/Updated 28 April 2020"Patients who are in hospital or non-hospitalised but high risk groups (e.g. elderly or diabetics) will be invited to take part in the trial. They would receive either SNG001 or placebo once daily for 14 days. The severity of their condition would be recorded on a scale developed by the World Health Organisation and we would ask questions about their breathlessness, cough and sputum every day, as well as assess their general medical condition and safety. If SNG001 proves to be beneficial it would be a major breakthrough for the treatment of COVID-19."Anyone seen this before?

That was updated 22/4 so I think we are still a way off our 100. Can’t see news until they complete recruitment.

The addition of this testing will help with recruitment into the study and also ensure we are able to give the study medication as quickly as possible.

The method of informed consent;

Originally the protocol stated that written informed consent should be taken. However, as we have moved forwards with the study, due to the isolation precautions the hospitals are having to take, some of our sites have said that they will need to take informed consent using different methods. These methods are approved by the sponsor prior to the site implementing them. The protocol has been adapted to allow for verbal and electronic consent to be taken. It is thought that for the Pilot phase of the study i.e. the first 100 randomised patients, that written and verbal consent will be the methods used. Electronic consent has also been added to future proof the protocol if needed.

Hurdles being overcome.

Suggests we are not near the 100 yet. And changes to a couple of areas ie getting to patients quicker rather than waiting for lab results.

At the bottom of the page there is a link to . Here it examines how interferon works to combat covid infections, looks like it’s been updated since the original release on April 5th.

For me without a medical background I found it quite interesting and positive. However, while it’s linked from the synairgen page, it makes no mention of inhaled or injected delivery.

It's an open label study so they can change as they go along. The downside is that from a regulatory point of view it's not properly controlled. The route SNG have gone down with a double blind placebo controlled study is by far and away the best and they will reap the dividends if the result is positive.

Im confused.........the RCOVERY trial keeps changing the 'therapies to be tested'...first there were 3 then the fourth was Interferon, then it was removed, now there are two new agents
Very unusual..

Prediction for 8am. All that Hemo profit is going over to SNG tomorrow, and maybe others. After all that's where it went from here in the last day or two. It will be an interesting opening if no RNS's are issued. What will people do? Exciting!
